SDA 2B Revamp

So I decided to do a few upgrades with my newly acquired 2b's. They were in great condition to begin with. But I want to make some changes.
I first tore off all the side paneling and grill cloth to expose everything and give everything a good sanding. Painted the pressboard and grill frames red because I'm doing red grill cloth and I don't want and bleed through.
Stained the caps black to go a long with the red grill cloth.
Now all this isn't overly exciting and has been done before with different stains and what not. But why not cut a strip out of the middle of the side boards and insert a polished strip of aluminum? So that's what I'm doing. I think it'll break up the monotony of the solid color wrap around and give it a little contrast.
Last night I stayed late at work and machined everything to size.
Now it's time to cut out the strips. Heres a mock up.

Can't wait to see the finished project! 2B are some nice speaks.

I like the idea of some COLOR! These should look great when you're done Brian, rebuilding the x-overs while you're at it?

Thanks guys. I cut the strips yesterday and I was able to keep a tolerance of +or- .05" which I'm super happy with. Considering I was using a skill saw and a guide. lol Just waiting on some more grill cloth to show up in the mail. Should have these done by Friday.
Unfortunately the x-overs won't happen til after the first of the year. -
God bless America...Yea that's definitely the red grill cloth I ordered...ughhh

Alright back on track. Red grill cloth came in today. Got that adhered and put my final coat of stain on. Tomorrow everything should be ready for some liquid nails.

ok, I was actually going to make a post and see how people felt about changing the appearance of vintage speakers, but it appears to be pretty positive. just got my first set of sda's, this model to be exact, and got the wife to agree on them being in the living room.......if we change the appearance. she wants some white and gray. I personally don't care what color as long as I can put them in the living room.
anyhow, awesome work, red and black are my color preferences, but it did not meet the WAF.
