My system is currently powered by a HK AVR500, fronts are RTI100 , Rears are RT15I, no center and using some cheap KLH speakers for the time being before I make up my mind. Should I complete my polk setup and quit there or should I go for these

I've never heard this set before so I'm unsure but I just sold my KSB3.1 last week and I really like the way they sound for small 8" bookshelf.

    Hmm... “Tantrix” horn?

Polk and Klipsch have totally different sounds. I wouldn't say one is "better" than the other: Just that they're different and people generally prefer one or the other. All the Klipsch speakers I've ever listened to made my ears hurt. The horns are a little overbearing, to me, and I prefer the Polk sound. You may hear things differently. How your other electronics mate with the speakers is also very important. Klipsch speakers, with their high-sensitivity, are said to be great with tube gear for instance.

I'm not real familiar with the particular model that you linked to, as far as how they compare with the Polk RTi line. You've already got a start on a nice system. If you're willing to start over and spend considerably more, you might also consider moving up in the Polk line. You need to listen before you buy!

Well I found a guy selling a mint condition RF-3 set which include the RF3 towers, the two surrounds matching center and also the matching sub. All for 1200. Is that a good deal? I can get rid of my 1 month old RTI100 and buy the klipsch and quit there. Considering that I'll be spending another 300 bucks on the center (CSI40) if I'm lucky. another sub (see my new post) and also some FXI30 as well all of that is gonna cost me as much as the klipsch. I'll be keeping my HK AVR500 to power the klipsch if I happen to get them. My system is a multi purpose theatra we have a karaoke setup (speakers only for music and movies) Vocals are coming out of some Dtech speakers off a Vocopro mixer. However I do love the way my polk sound at the moment. I just picked up 3 pairs of LSI7 was gonna start on a 7.1 setup but I decied not to. I'm selling those as well.

That is a killer deal for the set. I believe the RF-3 retailed for about $1k when they were still around. If I had the money, I'd jump all over it.

What you should do now is demo the guy's system if possible. I you can't, try to find a Klipsch dealer and listen there. Make sure you like the horn sound before buying.

If you check out the Klipsch forums, they love the H/K with Klipsch combo as much as the Denon/Polk owners here.

Another option you can look at is an external amp for your LSi7. They LSi speakers are excellent and I think you'll be very impressed listening to them driven by seperates instead of a receiver. You can still keep the receiver and use it as a pre.

I have the AVR 500 as well and it should sound great with the Klipsch as long as they have the horn tweets. The HK's are on the warm side so they should do well together. The guys on the Klipsch forum are going gaga over the old HK 430 twin powered receivers with their vintage Klipsch speakers. I have several of these old twin powered receivers, and the top end is very similar to my AVR 500. Good luck on your purchase.

    Hey Zane,
So the deal is still on right? I should have the cash in less than two weeks. I might be able to ship it out next Tues if I'm not busy.
