New to me audio toys

Many of you know I was away in London, England. While over seas I made a British purchase, oddly enough not from a shop in England but from a shop in Kingston Ontario. First up the freebie he gave me after talking for a bit.

He told me I could have it as he couldn't be bothered with it. It shut down on him just once.
Next up my reason for the 2hr drive there....

The rti have finally been retired to the basement for now until we finish a ht room.

Thank you. To be clear only the Rotel was free. I have not had a chance to listen to the speakers properly yet, they have only been used to watch paw patrol....

I'm thinking it might be time to go 2ch upstairs and ht in the basement.

Thank you. For the little listening I did get to do, there is a huge difference in sound over my Rti8s. More detail, warmth and a fuller richer sound. I'll play around with the Rotel another day to see what's up if there is anything and try a software upgrade too.
Right now the 703 are running with my SVS not sure if I'll remove it just yet.

    Awesome!

Love that we have similar problems, we get new audio gear and usually my kids get to use it most of the time.

That's why I went back to a 2ch system, kids are not allowed in that room!

The next big step is finishing the basement, no idea when that will be. We have other stuff we want to do.

Looking good, as you know I'm a BW fan so I think you made real good.

Thanks. I'm blown by what I have missed in my music. From nuances to subtle notes to what seems like complete passages. I was listening to Ben harper there is a part with bongos and boy did it ever sound real. In Dave Brubeck take 5, there is a passage where the piano hits some very high notes and they clean, crisp and accurate, just as if the piano was in my room. I'm blown away by the crystal clear and accurate highs, the mids are rich and smooth and full of life. I also find they have blended very well with my svs. I had them cranked to -15 on my system, not fatiguing one bit and my rotel was barely warm to the touch. Now I'm tempted to buy those MIT av2 in the Fm.
I have a bright room to begin with, hardwood floors, California shutters wooden end tables and leather furniture, I didn't find them bright like my rti8.

I'll post some grill-less shots for sure. I'll even remove the tweeter grills.

Thank you. I never really thought I'd get in with what I consider higher end speakers. I know they are not high end but to me they are getting up there.

I definitely don't see myself upgrading the speakers until the kids are out of the house and they are almost 4 and a 5 year old. My plan is to have the polks run off the Yamaha 1010 and zone two for outdoor speakers. Then use rotel gear for my 2ch with the 703s. I'm thinking the only other purchases will be some more cables and a good 2ch amp.
