Heads up. I noticed the price has been reduced overnight at Circuit City's Web site from $1399 a pair to $999.98. Could be a good upgrade path for those with good existing amplifier power. Or, those who bought them within the last 30 days can go ask for a chunk of money back.

Thanks for the tip Em. I went ahead and made the move!

BTW, I noticed from your signature that you have both the 12s and the 15s as well as the 150s. How do they all stack up to each other in your opinion?

I called a few CC's in the Phoenix area and they said that the Cherry color had been d/c'd in their system and they were only offering them in black.

Perhaps we're seeing Polk's coming out of CC?

EDIT: Apparently they haven't ever carried the Cherry in the new line (according to the web sales support). This is a sale that ends on Saturday April 3rd.......

For those that are around a Fry's Electronics, here'd be a good way to get them to price match.....

M123 I think what it might be is that they were never available from the web site to be shipped in the first place. It was in store pick up only. So that might be why they just took them off the site entirely.

When Em first mentioned about the price drop, I went to get a pair. They were still $700 each in store. The salesman had to get a manager's approval to match the price on their own web site. The idiot manager did not want to do it, claiming there must be some sort of mistake. Then he came back saying they would sell them for $550 each with a $50 mail in rebate rebate.

So, I just went and ordered them right from the web site myself there at the store on their computer, and then turned around and picked them up right there at the store at that moment. The manager seem pissed that I overstepped his authority, but there wasn't jack **** he could do to stop it.

I swear, I'm starting to think that CC managers are clueless. I also had a run in with one before who just could not comprehend that instead of the free sub promotion that they run about twice a year or so, that you could take the $200 credit and apply it to another Polk speaker purchase of equal or greater value. Also, he insisted that it had to be a complete home theater speaker package purchase instead of ANY Polk purchase of $499 or more.

The speakers all have their strengths and weaknesses, but none of them suit every purpose perfectly for me.

I'd favor the speakers the following way (my opinions in one room only with various different equipment used):

    Home theater: RTi12>RTi150
    Rock music: RTi12>RTi150>LSi15
    Vocal, jazz, orchestral music: LSi15>RTi150>RTi12

In general terms, the LSi15s lack bass and need a good subwoofer added to the mix but have a very good soundstage and can present an excellent stereo image, especially with vocals. I didn't have a full LSi surround set-up for home theater so I haven't used them for that purpose and can't offer an opinion based fairly on a full LSi system. The RTi12s are very good with sound effect laden movies and heavy music, but have to be played loud to be appreciated, have a tendency to sound unnaturally metallic/harsh at times like the tweeter has a bump in its frequency response curve, and have the characteristic of being easy to locate in a listening room--their output draws attention to the speakers too much and they don't "disappear" the way the LSi15s do with music. They do add a remarkable impact to action movies though which is why I finally got a set. The RTi150s match the RTi12s in bass output and present an overall smoother and more natural sound with most musical instruments, but fall short in home theater where speech, explosions, etc can sound a little dull compared with the other speakers.

They all are good and I'm happy with each set for limited purposes, but overall I'd say the LSis are overall by far the best speakers of the bunch even though they take a while to set up and match equipment well with.

The RTi12s were taken off the Circuit City Web site a few weeks ago as well, but they were placed back on a couple of weeks ago for some reason. A scan of stores in my region showed that about half the stores had RTi12s in stock. Although they are not listed on the site, they are probably available in a limited number of stores still.

CC stopped carrying the cherry due to lack of demand, far more people buy black speakers.

Also, stores MUST match the online price, even if it says "Web only special". If they give you **** ask what the corporate direction is on the issue, if they say anything other than "match on a one-on-one basis" then ask to speak to the person the next level up.

Just as a side note, if you guys ever have any questions about policies at CC, let me know.

All the speakers I have bought have been black except for the Rti38's that I recently picked up. The RTi12's look SOOOOOOOO good in cherry that I won't even consider them in black......shame on CC for not at least offering them in lower numbers.....

We are probably about 2 black to 1 cherry here. I hope with the subs now coming in RTI black that they will do the cherry finish on the subs too!

I can't find any stores near me (Northwest PA) that carry the rti12's. The closest one couldn't even find them on their system. Is there another way to find a CC that stocks these?
