My 'new' Martin Logans
I know the aren't Polks but, most of you know I love my 'stats. These Summits are just unreal, uncanny and fast, fast, fast. Dual 10" woofs driven with dual 200w D amps, the amp just drives the panels...barely... massive ohm load swings and a very reactive load means my monster SAE A1001
@500wpc continuous into 8ohms, God knows what into 4ohms and, the Summits dip lower than that. That means fans are in place for serious listening sessions
They can surprise the unwary, they look like pieces of art. Turn up the tunes and, jaws drop. Sound stage for days and days, front to back 'un side ta side.."Oh, Mayblene why can't the others be so true".
No crossover from the 22khz top to about 180hz, none, just a piece of thin plastic/mylar moving the air slightly heavier than itself.
Yeah, the bass needs some oomff for bass freaks. I think they're just fine, just as the music was performed, they accurately deliver IMHO.

Congrats on the summits Stuwee, its no secret I am a fan boy when it comes to the best speakers ever!!!! I only got to experience a three legged pair of summit but if you love summit then your going to pop in your pants with montis!
You need to get yourself a nice tube preamp into that mix stuwee. It really brings the romance into vocals for late night down low spl sessions. -
I've always wanted to A/B test ML's versus my SRS 2's. I'm sure the electrostatics would be more precise. Congrats, they look great and I'm sure sound even better.2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.

Anyone in the southern Arizona area is welcome over. I'm in mid-town Tucson, Grant and Swan area. I know their are some of you Polkies down here. I'd love to add a tubed pre, just bought a Sumo solid state though...soon tubes will be in the mix.
I'd love to hear some big Polks too, 'stats have been in my life for so long, trade off's in any high end speaker, we love what we love!Thorens TD125MKII, SME3009,Shure V15/ Teac V-8000S, Denon DN-790R cass, Teac 3340 RtR decks, Onix CD2...Sumo Electra Plus pre>SAE A1001 amp>Martin Logan Summit's -

I had a pair when they came out 9 years ago... Still remember them fondly.
It was used in my dormitory... It was awesome.
Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
Joey I was thinking your dorm days would have been old navy sweat pants and ramen but I guess not going by that rig pictured.
-
No doubt! I've seen dorm rooms that were just this side of a solitary confinement cell in the Gulags! No wonder kids are spoiled these days!
-
I guess I was spoiled.
Had a 37" monitor in 2007. Water cooled computer that was overclocked.
Bought that chair for listening.
Had:
VPI Superscoutmaster
Squeezebox
cary 306-200cdp
Cary slp 05 preamp (it just came out)
Plinius sa102
Into Martin Logan Sunmits
It was the best computer system I could build.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -

I think on paper I was probably a bigger audiophile THEN than I am NOW.
My system today would pale in comparison (relatively).Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -

Very nice congrats on acquiring the ML's.
I've been really considering a set of ESL's or open baffle speakers (Emerald Physics) in my living room in the future. All good things will come in time.
There sure has has been a ton of CL ads for used ML's here in the CHI/NWI area. Take your pick... Montis, Aerius i, Spire, Ascent, Prodigy, etc. From $1K to $5K. Some day....2.2 Office Setup | LG 29UB55 21:9 UltraWide | HP Probook 630 G8 | Dell Latitude | Cabasse Stream Amp 100 | Boston Acoustics VS 240 | AUDIORAX Desk Stands | Mirage Omni S8 sub1 | Mirage Omni S8 Sub2 -

Ah... Close to having Prez Toms Summits. Yep I remember the day I bought those. Bought them from an audiophile in Madison WI.
I remember seeing his room, thinking maybe one day I'll have something like this.
He had a full musical fidelity stack... I think he had large Innersound coming to replace the summits.
I held onto those Sunmits for a while, then when it was time for me to go into audio hibernation, Tom bought them from
Me.
I was about to buy them back... Close enough that I began to talk to tom about them. Then someone came and was more ready to buy than I was so I told tom to go ahead with the sale.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R
