Parasound 2250 v2

I've had the Parasound 2250 v2 hooked up for a few days now. After working through a ground loops problem on the troubleshooting forum (thanks everyone for the help) I am finally getting to listen to it in detail.

I left it on for the last two days and watched a movie with it last night. Played about ten min of higher volume music yesterday.

Right now I have Stevie Ray Vaughn Tin Pan Alley on SACD through my Denon DVD-2910. I placed both the Yamaha Aventage rxa1050 and the Denon in Pure Direct mode. I've never really been a fan of the Pure Direct but then again this is the highest quality gear I've owned. I have to say I'm plesently suprised by the sound. When I recline the chair and close my eyes the speakers absolutely disappear in the room. Sound stage appears bigger than the room. Oh, this is with the srs 2 not the 12b"s . AND this is with the lower right tweeter out. I can notice a slight shift in the sound. A SL2000 is in the mail.

At first listen the amp appeared way to bright for me. The guys told me the amp sounds better after about 24 hours of warm up. They were right. I will leave it on all week and it should get several hours each day of use. At the very least while my son plays the PS4.

After hearing how bright it was initially, I was thinking about a Grant Fidelity tube buffer. Now, I'm not so sure I will need one. But I'm sure the curiosity of how it will sound will eventually win.

Once it gets a bit more burn in and I get the replacment tweeter in I'll update.

Reminder that the SL2000 themselves are a little bright. They have a bump around 12kHz. I've gotten a little used to it on my 1'Cs for general listening, but still get reminded every once and a while, or if I play something I know is not SL2000 friendly.
  • I could never get used to the SL2000's. I had to do a TL on my 2B's before I was satisfied.

Nice set up CH. i use Parasound 2250 w/RXV-2600 Yammy w/2910 Denon quite similar w/CRS+tl & in pure direct i love it. I have a couple of tube buffers & have wondered if it would add some flavor to it also. I may end up trying that this weekend just for something different. Enjoy that amplifier

Jamming some Disturbed, Monster Magnet, Glitch Mob, Awolnation. All at louder than ussual levels for most people.

I put the RTA12b's back in and love these things more everytime I hook them up. Now, of course it's just a matter of pressing speaker a/b.

This amp has a lot more umph than anything else I've used.

I tend to pick up on brightness very quickly, and to my ears my RTA-8Ts have never been bright. I have never nor do I intend to swap out the tweeters in them. I listen to them all day long without a problem.

Congrats CH46E. Now that you can hear what a powerful amp can bring to your system, it is highly unlikely that you will ever go back to just a receiver driving your speakers!

Put on some of your favorite music and enjoy hearing some details that you have never heard before even though you have played them hundreds of times. :)

Wow, I have not found the 2250 v2 to be bright at all. I currently run Dunlavy SC-IV with a subwoofer since they are bit light on the bottom end on the A inputs and recapped 1Cs on the B inputs, but I never run A and B together. If you want to hear a bright amp, try an Emotiva.

I run vinyl and as a general rule, I have found that cds seem to sound a little brighter to me. Of course there are so many variables when it comes to equipment and listening environments, it can be hard to evaluate where issues are. Again, I have owned and heard many amps, and I don't find the parasound 2250 v2 to be bright, but that is just my opinion and I don't claim to have golden ears.

@cfrizz have you heard other SL2000's? I only ask because I have 1 pair SL2000's in some 5jr+ that don't have the bump or have a minimal bump. They are still crisp, but not very fatiguing, if at all.

Hi Pkquat, no I haven't heard other SL2000's. I just know that mine sound just fine.

The amp has been on and used all week. Sitting hear listening some Lindsay Sterling Violin music. I would not longer call the amp bright per say. I am enjoying it more as it ages a little. Have not really pushed it very hard yet as I'm kind of worried about loosing another SL2000.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but these SRS2 should be able to play pretty damn loud right? One thing I loved about my L80T JBL was thier ability to play at ludicrous volumes and stay clean with 125 watts. They could really take a beating. Also this is the most powerful amp I've had so trying to be a little carfull as I respect these speakers more than I did my JBLs. I know more power is better than not enough.

There is something going on in my room and certain recordings seem to exaggerate what I'm experiencing with the SRS 2. I pretty sure the hardness of the room is messing up the acoustics. Tile, no carpet and only thin blinds and curtain over a window. I experimented with some temp make shift panels placed at the first reflection points and it seems to drastically help with the right side of the room and the odd sensation of the imaging being far right even though I have the left +1.5 dB. The imaging with the classical music is not as much as an issue. With some vocals (not sure if it's the recordings or not) the imaging seems to be 2 feet to the right of the right channel where my 12b is sitting.

I am looking at just getting some Dayton Audio caps and mills resistors and doing the srs2.

I've sent two emails to Sonicraft asking for a quote on the parts needed. No responce. When I delt with them for my JBL L80T rebuilds and they put everything I needed together and mailed it out quickly after I paid. I was very happy with his customer service. Now I can't even get a responce from him.

This is in a closet off the movie room. I don't have all thoes wires out in the open btw.

Those SRS2 can handle that 2250 no problem.

That song was just on! I plugged her name is to Pandora and it's a pretty darn good station.
