Seems like the fun never stops. I was contemplating this before going with a tube preamp, I would really like to explore the possibilities of another amp in the sub- $1,000 range.
I'm currently using a B&K 200.2, but I've been looking at the McCormack DNA .5, 125, parasound a23.
I don't know if the McCormack's are powerful enough for the 2.3 and I wonder if the A23 is an overall cleaner amp.

If you can find one (they don't come up on the used market often), look for an Anthem Amp 2 SE. I've ran some SRS-2s, 1Cs, and CRSs with them and they sound fantastic. I think they would push the 2.3s rather well. They have great bass, mids, a detailed-but non fatiguing top end, and great imaging and soundstage. What I like most about them though is they are a tube/solid state hybrid (tube input/solid state output). You get a touch of the tube magic and can roll different tubes to tune the sound to your liking. The pair of 6922 tubes being signal tubes, they will last for a long time and it doesn't have to be biased like a full tube amp.
Btw, dibs on the B&K!
