What's new with streamers?

I'm using Tidal to stream music exclusively in my 2-channel rig and am wanting to upgrade my Squeezebox Touch. What's new out there these days that has Tidal integration? I'm looking at the Auralic Aeries or Auralic Mini, but have read that Bryston has a unit that can stream Tidal. Is there anything else that I'm missing?

Here are some reviews..pretty good article.

Thanks for the link!
Just out the order in for the Bluesound Node 2. Eager to here if it beats my Squeezebox Touch / Wyred 4 Sound Remedy combo. -
I have the Aurelia Aries Mini and highly recommend it. The DS lightning app that drives it is awesome.

That Bluesound Node 2 piqued my interest as well recently...looks like a good value. I wanted a new preamp, too though, so ended up with a Peachtree Audio novaPre tube hybrid w/ internal DAC, and using a SBT as transporter.
Tell us how you like the Node 2 after you try it."This may not matter to you, but it does to me for various reasons, many of them illogical or irrational, but the vinyl hobby is not really logical or rational..." - member on Vinyl Engine

If you can do Ethernet in and USB out, you might wanna try the Sonore microRendu. I use Roon to manage library including Tidal. And I know you didn't ask, but if you haven't already tried Roon, I'd recommend trying that as well. I haven't gotten this much enjoyment out of music since college days.
My last thought is that you might want to try HQPlayer. It complicates things a bit, but you might like the SQ with filters, upsampling to DSD (esp with the Hugo), and digital room correction that's possible. Apparently, Roon is trying to integrate HQPlayer but I don't think it's imminent.

Seems like all I hear about is Roon these days. I just went through their website and it does look like a winner. I don't know if I could swallow spending $20 a month on Tidal and then piling on Roon for another $10 right now.
The Bluesound Node 2 has been breaking in for 24 hours now. It's an obvious upgrade over the Squeezebox Touch in all of the obvious ways but what jumps out is top end extension. It's just cleaner up there.
The BluOS app is very straight forward and it was easy to get everything up and running. Haven't had a hiccup with it.
So far so good!

That has some good info in it.
The Node 2 is nice, has a DAC built in.
Sonos with a external DAC is hands down one of the best based on its GUI and support.
Im still using the Transport to play Tidal b/c it looks cool and that AKM DAC sounds so sweet with my system.B&W CM9Classé Sigma -
Do you guys know if the node 2 is on par for a reference system as auralic Aries with upgrade?

I don't know that it will make much difference in that you are only looking for something play your high res files. All decoding will be done by your DAC and not the DAC in either machine. Note, it looks like the Node2 only does PCM, while the Auralic does PCM and DSD. -

IMO, software is the primary factor. Roon (with Tidal) is just SO MUCH FUN. I've never enjoyed music so much. If you haven't tried Roon yet, I would give it a shot before buying a streamer. [IIRC, the Bluesound Node is not RoonReady.] RoonReady streamer makers include DCS, Auralic, Bryston, PSAudio, and probably other high end manufacturers.
Here's the list.
My Bryston BDP-1 sounds fantastic in Roon mode, so I can imagine the BDP-2 would satisfy you sonically. And Bryston was offering a free 90-day (I think) Roon trial. It might not be expensive enough for you though.

The software works well for me. I use the Node pretty much only for TIDAL, so I can attest to the functionality of the TIDAL part of the interface. I haven't run across anything that annoys me yet, and yes it will work with a USB thumb drive or powered external hard drive (or NAS).2 Channel in my home attic/bar/man cave

Roon is an opensource music database/player. I ran it on a Raspberry PI music streamer I built. Works well from the most part, but since it is a freeware type program it does have its issues. I am surprised Roon runs on a Bryston unit, that is cool to hear. I imagine if Bryston supports it, they have a specific version or they have the kinks all worked out.2 Channel in my home attic/bar/man cave

How Roon Works
Roon Pricing (does not include Tidal which IMO is needed for Roon to really shine)
Try it out. It took me a good while before I fully appreciated what it offered. Now I'm completely hooked.

Hmmm, I would say Roon is your older brother's dealer friend who has lots of money and free time, owns and knows intimately 5,000 albums, including complete collections of about any artist, knows a ton about all the band members, has memorized liner notes, knows where groups are playing live, can instantly pull an album and play it on good gear, knows most lyrics, and can tell you about connections between artists, albums, songs, producers, labels, genres, and about anything else music related that you can think of.
Before you know it, you realize you've been talking, learning about, and playing his music in his den long after his wife has gone to bed. And you have a huge stack of albums to take home and listen to.
If you're a music lover, you'll love Roon.
Here's a 30-min walk thru video. This does not show the current release, but should give you a good idea. But I still think you just have to try it for yourself for a little while to fully appreciate.
