yes, I saw this at AA yesterday -- as I recall, he'd been ill, so it wasn't exactly a surprise; but it is still very sad.
Thanks for posting a note about it here. Very nice that you got to meet him in a Polk-y context.
I've always been impressed by the accessibility that the Stereophile staff allow themselves to have with their audience (cf. the "Critics Corner" forum at AA). Stereophile takes a lot of heat from its critics, but it's one of the last vestiges of a great tradition (the broad-based hifi enthusiast magazine). Wes was (of course) a cornerstone at Stereophile for quite a while.
