my plan was to go this year, but daughters weeding is on the 15th and skips gathering is on the 22st

Rumor has it gonna be a cluster fook. The 3rd story Atrium side of the hotel above the restaurant bar is shut down for remodel. several vendors already cancelling.

Going to force all traffic to main tower....use the stairs

Correction, there will be vendors on the 4th floor, only 3rd floor under remodel

Yep gonna be a cluster...only 2 vendors booked in the Atrium
3rd and 4th floors in the atrium are usually sold out to vendors

I have flights booked! I will meet old Dipole Dan there! I'm arriving Friday morning, leaving Sunday morning. I've punked Dan the last 3 or 4 years. We've got tickets and rooms. I look forward to this event. I have never been to RMAF!!

    Somehow missed this thread.

I am thinking about it seriously (and Russ even heard my wife OK the trip...)

RMAF and CanJam were good this year. The hotel was a cluster with all the construction and that held the show back from being great, but was still very good with lots of good demos.

I'll actually get out my notes and go over a few systems later, but the two setups that really stood out to me were the ELAC UF5 and the Zu Audio Soul setup.

The ELACs are unbelievably good for a $1000 pair of towers and live up to the hype. I spent about an hour talking to Andrew Jones and the man is both brilliant and passionate about his work, i didn't see designers for any of the other big boys in there doing demos for their gear. My gripe with the ELAC is that they're not great looking speakers, but a birdie told me to expect to see that rectified by CES.

I also spent a long time with the Soul Supreme by Zu Audio and they were superb, even in the massive room they were in, truly spectacular. I spent a fair amount of time talking with Sean Casey, another brilliant guy, so many great guys in this hobby.

JWM was unfortunately not there as Josh had to cancel given some personal stuff, if any of you know Josh reach out and wish him and his wife well.

I've decided to hold off buying anything until we see what ELAC has up their sleeve at CES, if they can do to the entry level high end what they've done at the $1000 price point then we're in for a real treat.

The one thing I did buy are the Focal Elear headphones and they are stunning, best headphones I've heard at the $1000 price by a wide margin.

I was there and enjoyed myself immensely. I did meet and talk with Andrew Jones in the ELAC room. It was interesting as the painted European models cost $500 more just because it's cheaper to veneer than paint.

The ELAC Bluetooth enabled DAC with an integrated Class D amplifier sounded fantastic. Together, the system cost about $1,700. It sounded as good as many higher priced systems.

The Zu speaker room was being driven by Peachtree. Who also had a Bluetooth DAC with an integrated Class D amplifier. The sound was amazing! The Zu speakers cost $30,000. The Peachtree all in one unit did not disappoint.

The PSB soundbar was also a surprising product. $999 and you wouldn't believe the base from this soundbar without a subwoofer!!

I have lot of pictures that I will post this weekend.
