RD-0198's break in and other questions?

My RD-0198's finally arrived. It may take longer until I can get to doing the crossovers, but I had some time to swap out one SL2500 on a 5jr+ for a quick comparison.
The missing highs came back, and I think muddiness around the crossover region is gone. I say I think because the RD-0198 is much louder overall than the SL2500, and even when comparing it to a 5jr+ I have with an SL2000, it still sounds louder. I would venture to say it sounds too loud. Does this change with break in? How long is the break in period?
Can I swap them out directly with SL2000's without damage to break them in, or should I wait until I have done the crossovers?

No comment on the loudness issue.
Aside from the different-sized wire terminals, I can't think of any reason you couldn't break 'em in using a temporary installation in the 5s. Just don't expect 'em to sound right with the existing crossover.
