lack of higher volume punch

I have a pair of SDA 2Bs that have been TL'd by the previous owner. now that I have a more tolerant neighbor (I live in a townhouse), I turn them up higher more often but I'm not getting the thumpage punch I did from the SDA 2As I replaced. some of the screws on the subs do not tighten; they seem to be stripped. Can this be causing lack of a good seal that would explain my issue? any suggested fixes? or should I be looking for other causes? I appreciate any guidance here as I feel I know only enough to be dangerous and don't want to jump to conclusions.

Thanks,

Jim

Push in & hold the passive in. The woofers will come out & should stay out at least 3-5 seconds. If they go back to normal to quick you have a leak.... Hurricane nuts OR Larry rings may work

Keep in mind. It could also be woofer & tweeter gaskets/screws also. If you remove the woofers & tweeters & the gaskets appear ok - keep them. Stock ones tend to last a long time & unless there is a tear or something-they should be fine

sounds like you may have a leak as Boston pointed out try that. These are dependent on a very good seal around the drivers to get good bass.

Something is wrong with the disaster known as Vanilla...big surprise!

This thread has 5 replies, but only 1 view, which of course is not possible. There are other threads with the same issue.

If you can't get Larry's Rings, hurricane nuts will work just fine. If the speaker gaskets are not in good shape you can make new ones out of Armacell, available at Home Depot.
