? About ebay bidding

If the last bid is at lets say 100.00 & i put a bid at 120.00 & im the highest bidder & i put 2 more bids up'just in case - if i won wouldnt i pay 120.00 if no other bids - or does ebay automatically go to my highest bid. I might of screwed myself

eBay uses set increments based on the current bid. If the last bid was $100, and the increment is $2.50, for instance, then a bid of $120 would show as $102.50. Putting more bids behind that of higher amounts wouldn't benefit you. You just need one bid of the max that you would want to pay.

After your bid is posted, if someone bids, for instance, $110, it will automatically jump your bid to $112.50.

I am not sure what the increments are anymore, so it may actually be $5.00 increments above $100 but you can check that on eBay.

I checked and the bid increments are as shown below

Nope you are fine. If the bid is at $100 and lets say you bid 3 times to $160 and not one else bids then you will be charged $100. But if others bid they have to bid more than you $160 for them to win the item. If they bid a max of $145 than you will win and get charged $146 if the increments are by $1 dollar.

It's proxy bidding. Ebay used to call it Bid Butler. It's a good feature along with sniping services like Esnipe. There was a recent discussion on this forum about it.

Just do not bid late at night after too much to drink. Don't ask me how I know. Good luck. Peace. D

Next to the bid amount there should be text that shows how many bids have been placed. This is also a link to the bid history. It won't show proxy bids though. You should see your max bid and there should be another user with a bid that is an incremental amount below your max bid.

But eBay no longer shows you the name of who you are bidding against. Just a randomized "name".

I see what happened. My last bid was 165.50. I won by 50cent. I didnt think it would have gone that high.

I mostly look & buy/bid on Ebay Mobile. I had to go to Classic site & look at account.

I don't bid very often anymore (usually just do Buy it Now) but when I did, I always added a few more cents to the bid for just such a scenario as yours.

Check out Esnipe (or some other similar service). It will put in your max bid at the last 6 seconds. I no longer am concerned about "auctions" anymore. It's pretty cheap too.

Im trying to stay away from ebay & bid wars. I know what i am willing to pay & im fair to sellers as they have so many fee's & they take a beating. But keep in mind. Sometimes its better to walk away. Prefer BIN

I saw some 62n7 tubes, these were labeled Silverstone in Red, think they are just sylvania's but the match quad started at like $21 so I put $50 on it left it alone. I won the auction for $25 the price got bumped twice.
