She probably wasn't thinking, nor understands how you feel unless you have spoken up before. Everyone has their own thoughts on the matter so unless you disclose yours it was "out of sight out of mind" in her mind....just saying

If anyone ever brings a firearm into my house they will no longer be welcome...of course unless there are exceptional circumstances (i.e. a cop). I would let her know (nicely) that although I understand her perspective it's my house, so never again.

To me anyway, she was too eager to tell others she was carrying and should have either asked for permission to bring it on my property or stfu. If she told one person, chances are she told others, who may not be up to snuff. With hard booze around, situations can escalate fast...

I admit to not really considering that fully in my first response. Part of the issue is not that she was carrying in your house, but that she told others in an environment where others and potentially she were drinking. Not cool. Again, you're right to be peeved. Since I started my family, I've come to understand this viewpoint well.

I still think you should just consider how the comment will be received. Are you going to prevent a future issue, or just scold someone for having an irresponsible friend? The former goes down much better.

I found a pic of the wedding at Tonys place. Such a lovely couple, carrying on the family traditions.

Tony its a topic that you will never get agreement on. Let it go and don't invite her back. Many are irresponsible in this area. Just because you can get a license does not mean you should carry....

Like I said Russ, I'm pro gun, pro concealed carry, but that still doesn't give you the right to do whatever the F you want with it either. Common sense....we need to start teaching it again because if we take it for granted that people have it, we'll be sadly disappointed.

By common sense, I mean knowing when situations call for, or not, to carry. If your the type to always carry, then when you go into someone elses home you better disclose and ask for permission. If you don't want to do that, leave it in the car for the few hours you'll be at a party. Am I wrong in that line of thinking ? Because in my view, I'm responsible for everything that happens on my property and if that's the case, then I don't want that right mixture for a catastrophy to happen.

Ask yourself this...."is ___(insert name here)___ ever going to be at my house again?"
    HIGHLY unlikely! Brother-in-law's, groom's, relative....Geesh, that's quite the separation.

I'd say mention it to FAMILY but don't go on a which hunt.

Besides, the wife is going to get divorced shortly which will in turn, separate you even further from the individual.....Just vote for numbnuts and we'll trade in all of our guns for rape whistles...problem solved!

LOL, probably not at my house but maybe at theirs....and if I have my kids with or grandkids, I want to know because hard booze is always served at these things. To me, guns and hard booze don't mix well and I'd like to avoid those situations when at all possible. Call it years of experience, hard booze does strange stuff to people while beer and wine drinkers simply puke or pass out. Some are friendly drunks, others nasty and violent, which can you knowingly let around your kids with guns present ?

I'm not looking for a witch hunt, I just want the groom to inform his relative that it wasn't appreciated and should think twice in the future about having a protocol for such events. Is that an unreasonable request ?
