RTA 12C'S Value

Have a pair (nice) RTA12C'S full mods (and I mean full) clarity ESA caps , rdo194, hurricane nuts, rewire ect. Haven't seen any for sale recently, mod ot stock. Thinking (feeler) about selling but just know thier tru value in the market. 700 plus in mods (I know I can't get this back) but need to know so I can price fairly. Sincere Opinions needed!

I have done most of the mods as well: full Xover rebuild with Sonicaps/Mills, rewired with OCC solid teflon wire, BH-5 strips behind the MW's, magnets epoxied , Hurricane nuts to fasten drivers to front baffle, and spikes added. Have not put RD-0194's in . . . yet.

Unless someone is familiar with these, they need to be demo'd to get a full appreciation for what they can do.

Price . . . ? I'd try somewhere around $350 - $400. They're expensive to mod due to the dual Xovers so I don't think you'll get your money back, but that's not why we usually get into mods anyway.

Drummingman I agree (won't get investment back, never expected to.) Never planned to sell actually. But seem to be gravitating toward a diff sound. Still may not sell ( but could use the money toward another cartridge upgrade or phono pre ( just don't even know what "level" to start with, as the pre in the Perreaux is pretty nice). Possibly a DAC. Just can't stand to see them sitting off to the side. Kept these (and loved them) longer than any speaker I've owned!

They're special. Why not store them and rotate in occasionally. They image well and are so smoooooooth.

Storage space is at a premium in our house now. All my alloted space has been used (I am told)

At one point I had RTA-12B's, SDA 2B's, Monitor 5's, and Monitor 4's all in a studio apartment. There's always room.

back to your speakers - I can't comment on price, but those sure do seem like nice speakers. really a shame you can't make room or storage for them.

Sold my stock ones on C/L for $150 & it took a while. Honestly, unless you sell to a fellow Polkie, the money you have invested in mods won't mean chit to the average Joe.

I agree daveho, may just part them out. A fully upgraded 12c crossover clarity caps ESA should be worth more than the speakers as a whole to someone that wants to upgrade thiers. Just drop it in.
