Steve - If you have a specific response about the weapons issue, contact Justin. It is certainly their right to limit topics of discussion, but perhaps you can elaborate and get the comment more crucially defined. I don't think that we as responsible gun owners, etc, are the target. Dr. Spec mentioned this fact in another thread.

I think it was moreso in response to another forum members' description "of" a potential explosive, that caused the immediacy of the response.

another person who believes that their "rights" extend onto other's personal property. :o

do a little research into what caused this situation. someone posted information about how to make explosives using household items and refused to edit their post. nothing about guns, and i don't think the moderators have ever complained in the past about gun discussions. sad to say that in this day and age, POLK could easily be sued if someone's kid blows their head off because of information he found here.

if you think POLK is wrong in protecting themselves from something like this from happening then you *should* leave.

    And I quote:

"Threads about weapons of any kind are not appropriate for any forum on the Polk Audio website."

This should have been addressed with the individual concerned, not to the general Polk community. We've discussed guns on a number of occasions in the "off topic" area, because many of us are enthusiast.

I don't think that we as responsible gun owners, etc, are the target. Dr. Spec mentioned this fact in another thread.

It was actually more of a question than a statement. I have not contacted Polk about whether or not they feel discussions about the legal use of firearms is allowed. And they have not clarified their official position in that respect either; it is still ambiguous.

Russ seems to think that discussions about guns belong in a gun forum. My counterpoint was that the Off Topic Forum is for all things non-audio, and firearms have certainly been discussed ther in the past without any fanfare or moderator objections.

Gun owners are quite simply rather senstive to being portrayed as weirdos, gun nuts, evil, and sociopaths. And we don't like to be painted with a broad brush and see our legitimate and legal hobby banned as a discussion topic right along with talk about how to build bombs and explosives from common household items. It's bull, it's wrong, it's discriminatory and I think Polk should clarify its position. Our friggin' President is a gun owner and a sportsman for chrissake.

Although I don't disagree with that statement, by the same token without security, freedom won't last very long.

    Here we go.

I don't give a **** about guns one way or the other. I don't object to it, anymore than say a motorcycle post (another hobby I'm not involved in, and don't care one way or the other about). If Polk said don't talk about guns, don't talk about them HERE.

My rights this, my rights that, blah blah blah. You guys should spend time fighting the good fight to keep guns legal and your right to bear them. Why get your collective ****-hairs up about whether or not it is an acceptable topic on a privately owned / run forum?

If you think the statement Polk made needs clarification, GET CLARIFICATION, and report back.

I like wearing womens undergarments. It's perfectly legal, but I'll find a crossdressing website to post about it, if Polk deems it an unacceptable topic for THEIR forum.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Russ, bro, what's got your ****-hairs up? Man, the past couple of weeks you've been a nastly little man. Grab and beer, "let it speak for itself" or just drink it. Either way, chill a little. Bring the funnies back.

I don't participate in forums that attempt to "null and void" my 2nd amendment rights...

Call me crazy but those two statements are different. You made it sound like Polk Audio was some kind of horrible oppressor of your rights. I'm of the same opinion with regards to freedoms/security but it doesn't matter. Like Russ said it's not even worth discussing here.

I see that you are apparently not serious about leaving, so it must not be that bad.

This BS pops up all the time. THIS IS POLK'S SITE TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT! They built it...they paid for it...they pay to maintain it (and with - Justin's - $300K + salary it must be VERY expensive)...IT IS THEIRS! If they want to limit discussion to the "ramification of thermonuclear war on the reproductive life cycle of piss ants..." that is their right. And IF that were the case then the fact that no one could "talk guns" on the site in no way infringes upon anyones rights.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
    — The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
    — The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

Both amendments are about GOVERNMENT restrictions on speech and arms. Any individual entity (person, business, group, etc....) can restrict your right to say anything or carry weapons on their property. I can keep you from coming on my property if I disaprove of your language or if you have a weapon. It is MY RIGHT. This is Polk's property...it is their right!

And steveinaz is perfectly within his right not to come here...

As for me...as long as it is audio, music, gear, etc...with a little humor thrown in from time to time... I like it here. I could care less about the other stuff.... My .02

    I really have no comment...

Although, I do take exception to Paul's choice of words for his example. Now why would you choose a "liberal" over say a conservative or Bin Laden?

Are you expressing some sort of approved Polk opinion here? Hmmm... Isn't the HQ for the NRA up in your neck of the woods???
