Build two desks this weekend simple ones just table tops, my wife wanted one like she seen at Stables but they wanted $400 for it. So picked up a 4 x 8 x 3/4 sheet of oak plywood some 1 x 3 oak stock for $288 and build two the one in the picture is for the Daugther. Fun little projects turned out OK...

Cheers

Exactly, now there is a couple of imperfections in the Plywood that I didn't notice till I applied the stain but it's not a show piece.

Thanks guys, But after looking at the imperfections a bit more closely it began apparent that it was my fault as I think it was glue so I sanded the top down and refinished it and made a drawer, look much better. will post new picture later.

looks great and you CREATED IT yourself. I feel there's no better feeling than building something useful , inhabitable or ride able. My step-daughter learned from me and LOVE the gleem and excitement she has when she gets to show me her projects on paper and then throughout the processes and changes that sometimes have to made . She showed mer flip-down dining table she finnaly comelpeted the other day. It was awesome! flip down benched that she padded and covered herself too.

Building or just putting up store bought Bird houses that get birds to produce families in are always a joy for me too.

Great job on your table !!
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

So decided to go with a darker stain as per the girl and leave the legs lighter. So this is how it looked ( well when I restrained it a while ago)
Well now it is covered in books, laptop and stuff you can hardly see the desktop.
Well I guess thats not quite how it looks as I've applied a few clear coats and sanded in-between.

Thanks, it's pretty basic stuff really as any wood worker on this forum knows.

But I'm going to start investing in better blades as I don't usually work with Oak and it began quickly apparent the weak point in my tools are.
As I have a few more projects to do around here..
