I hooked my SACD player (Sony XA-5400ES) back up to my two channel system, after around a year or so of inactivity, and I am now playing a CD. How quaint, but it does sound good. I decided to return to my old procedure of playing a CD before ripping it, and then just ripping the songs I like versus the whole CD.

The biggest issue having the SACD player back in the rack is that it is black, and everything else is silver.
Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes

Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables

Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
Three 20 amp circuits.

Sounds like a good reason to get matching black components with glass faceplates and blue meters.

I bought my Vincent preamp & amp in black, mainly because I knew the only SACD I found in my price range was only in black.

I still play more Vinyl & SACD/CD's then digital for now.

SACD/CD is a good source (of course depending on your transport/DAC/player). Reel-To-Reel is also a very good source.

IMO, even the best server/computer sourced audio sounds inferior to each of the above. Maybe I am too "old school" though.....

Glad you actually played an album from the original source @BlueFox. Enjoy!

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I haven't played a cd in so long, and don't know that I ever will?? With over 7000 albums (and forever growing) on my NAS, it has spoiled me rotten with not only the ease of access to the library but the crazy great quality of the upsampled rips. Amazing. Someday I may add a nice cd player but no plans on it as of now.

Nice move Bud, the Sony XA-5400ES is a great value package as is, but is a giant killer with all of Dan Wright's latest mods. I'm the same with component color matching. All of my components have a silver face (except my Oppo 103 which is black, as I didn't like the silver color on Oppo).

I enjoy collecting cd's as well as interacting with them, reading the artist's liner notes etc. I realise at some point my cd collection will outgrow my racks, then it will be time to buy a server transport and start archiving my collection. But until then, i'll keep spinning silver discs ;).

Dromunds, glad you are enjoying it. Even though they have been out of production for a few years, the used market is still commanding a good price for even the stock players.
