MM651UM Impedance/Hookup
The subject speakers are listed at 4 ohms. I hooked them up in parallel to a P400x2 Fosgate amp that is stable at 2 ohms. Watts are matched at those levels and hookup. Gain adjusted just under clip at full head unit output.
However, I notice the back of the speakers indicates 3 ohms and have read elsewhere they are actually 2.7 ohms each. In a parallel hookup that may not be great for the amp. Please provide actual impedance for these speakers and ideas/concerns with the indicated parallel hookup.
Thanks,
John

Hello John,
Welcome to Polk's forum. Let me contact Polk for an explanation on that.

It is possible you have the standard MM651 instead of the "UM" version. If so, the impedance is 2.7 ohms and a parallel connection is not recommended. If you can provide the serial number the speaker's identity can be confirmed.

Thanks for looking into this.

I'll let you know what they say.

Polk has confirmed that you have a "UM" version which is 4 ohm impedance.

Excellent, thank you.
