Welcome to another NW Polkie. You're just north of me.
Bottom line, you want punch with bookshelves, you need a sub.
BTW- Turn the caps off. We can hear ya just fine without yelling -
Welcome Machinist, Just North of Ken, just South of me. Sucks to be you. Ken is absolutely right, a sub will really help out. Let us know what size room you have, and someone, I'm sure, will have a suggestion.
Completely different topic--You work for the big B? Figure with a name like Machinist from Kent, there's a pretty good chance. If I had to really stretch, I'd say you got the Polks from Frys?
Anyway, always good to welcome a NW Polkie. There are two ways to argue with women. Both of them are wrong. -
I own some Rti4's and every one is right for HT use you will need a sub, now if you were just using them for a very simple bedroom set up you could omit the sub but again for HT get a sub, great lil speakers but not enough oumph !!

You might want to take your front L/R Rti4's back for a pair of Rti6's. You'll definitely get more mid-bass this way.
