I've got the VR-M60's. I lusted after these beautiful speakers since I was in high school back in 1998 when they were $1000/each at Ultimate Electronics. I never thought I could find a pair or afford them and saw them as an achievement some time in my life. Luckily @Tony M had a pair and sold them to me for an amazing price (he's now a lifelong friend). They currently sit in my closet waiting for the next application. I've got the VR920 and VR-12 center channels that are timbre matched.Main Surround -

Are the dimensions on the VR-M50's ~9 wide x ~7 tall x ~9 deep? I find conflicting info on those lol.....
Just noticed the tag lol.
I love them. The Lynnfield tweeter still holds its own 20 years later, the bass is OK for the size of the speaker. It's beautiful and the odd size (it's deeper than it is tall) actually is great. Finding a matching center is difficult, I'd really like to find another VR-M60 and one day have a full theater of these with a decent SVS sub.

@nguyendot
I agree on the center though I've been told the 920 and VR12 are MUCH better options than the VR-MC, so I'm holding out for one of those and maybe a set of the dipole surrounds lol..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I also must admit the more time I get on them the more I like em. They are not ANYWHERE to what I'd call full range, you WILL NEED a capable sub to really get anything close to good bass from them (but what do you expect).
The mids and high's are pretty darned good.
Also my wife reminded me that my Dad's been rocking some Boston A-400's for the past 40 years, so it makes sense why the sound signature is familiar, I grew up with it
I'm looking forward to getting my sub integrated ASAP with them."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

I bought my first pair of VR-M60's before there was a matching center. When it came out I bought the VR-MC and it did an adequate job but I found a guy selling a single VR-M60 shortly after that so picked it up and then a second pair of 60's so I was able to run 5 of them paired with a SVS 2039 PC as my HT speakers up until late March when the last F&F sale occurred. I also have a pair of VR-MX surrounds and the pair of VR-M50's. I am a BA fan. -
@simm
I may have to try and pry those MXs from you at a later date lol...
I'm still not sure what center as I kinda like the look of the MC and it comes in Cherry to match my mains. But I've heard it's performance stinks as its only a single mid driver w passive as opposed to the BR12 and VR920 which both have dual bass drivers a dedicated mid and tweeter...
The MX I'd prob like in black as i don't think the look of the cherry stacks up for surrounds compared to the black which would fade in better I think..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I was a BA fan in the Lynnfield series. All the current gear screams "lame". I had VR970s up until about 4 months ago. I loved them, probably why I like my DefTechs so much. But those are for a different purpose all together.Main Surround -

The MC center is not bad. It was overpriced new in my opinion but I occasionally see them pop on CL at very reasonable prices. When I compared it to a single 60 as a center the differences were minimal, imo. I like the idea of 5 matching speakers and since I was able to find a single that's what I did. I don't think you would miss much, if any, using the MC.

@simm
Good to know. I "may" look for one, again it depends on the price, I'm not going to overpay for one so I'm thinking maybe 125 shipped if not less.
I dont have to have one so I'm content to wait for a good price on one in good condition. The room is also fairly small at 12 x 16 IIRC so its not like there is a lot to fill room wise.
@nguyendot
I agree on the BA new stuff, I'd forgotten they were even around still and their website shows nothing that looks good at all lol.
Def Tech was and still is on my list to demo some more of as I could potentially see them as LSi replacements (again for the right price). For the loft setup the prices for their bookshelves were just too high to justify for that room.
225 for the VR-M50's was still a "bit" too high IMHO, but for the condition they were in I decided to pay a bit more as finding another set with no condition issues may have taken a bit longer than I wanted."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." @EndersShadow I used the VR10 center channel with a pair of energy rc10s @Rick88's suggestion and I was very pleased with the results in a decent sized master bedroom. It is a three way design with one 5 inch woofer and a matching passive radiator. Obviously a little bass shy, but only a little. I was really shocked by how clean and articulate it was, and with the PR 3 way design the bass it did have was very clean and fast. My buddy is currently using it in a large open space and is happy. They can be had very cheap on the bay, I would highly recommend trying one out. I think you will be very pleased...
Here is one example, there is almost always at least one of the bay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Boston-Acoustics-Lynnfield-VR10-center-channel-speaker/172257672538?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=37182&meid=70af4b77baba48debb586251fa9e3d68&pid=100005&rk=2&rkt=6&sd=272293479325&rt=ncLiving Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es
