Man, Argentina clobbered the USA last night. Made them look like a high school team. Messi of coarse did what he always does, his penalty kick was perfection. The USA couldn't muster one kick on goal the whole game, astounding coming from all the announcers who picked them to win the game and touted their defense.
Chile and Columbia will be a good game, and I think Chile will come out on top. Sets up a showdown in the final that will be a toss up. Good games, and nice to see soccer becoming popular again in the USA. Over 70k fans at last nights game in Houston. That's why soccer stars get paid the big bucks, they can fill stadiums.

FC Cincinnati has been drawing 20k+ fans to their matches..pretty darn good for minor league...I like watching Manchester United..they are a machine..

Sounders fan with season tickets and its always very cool going to a game that's always a sellout with over 35K in attendance and the fans going bonkers

Unfortunately, the US team has no world class players in their team right now, although two or three of the younger ones look promising. Argentina has at least half a dozen who are world class and could play in any club team in Europe, and their team was better at every position by pressing hard to get the ball in midfield. Absolutely controlled the match easily. Looked like most of the US team spent the match passing the ball to the opponents and running into each other. Good entertainment. Chile has great depth too. South American teams are way ahead of North and Central American teams.

Least the fans here are somewhat civil, the ones in Europe or South American are just plain batsheet crazy. Burning people with flares, chopping off the heads of referee's, shooting people. Almost like the old Roman Gladiators, people want blood when things don't go their way.

Fanaaaaaaatics. I agree with all of the previous posts. US don't have the quality players required to go up against the big boys league but we are still on a learning curve. I'm happy that its finally catching on here and getting bigger all the time.

If that's the case, this is the slowest learning curve I've ever seen. We just don't grow 'em living and breathing soccer here. For the same reason most great Hockey players are Canadians. They live and breath the sport.

Well we were at the Blues Fest last night and me and the couple that went with us had to keep hearing about the Germany Italy score from the wife she had some live feed or something well Germany won and she is happy as can be pretty big deal for her and the rest of her family. It's hard to believe but after living there for 14 years I didn't really get accustomed to it but watched it and attended a few games.
Here is for all the Italy fans a joke from the misses she said while the spaghetti eaters and wine drinkers are crying over the loss it's pizza and German beer tonight, I guess it's a big deal for her.Home Theater

I for one couldn't believe they missed all those kicks in the shoot out. I'll give my fellow countrymen some credit though. They were chastised from the beginning as the worst team Italy has ever put on the field. Lots of youth, inexperience......and the coach had faith in his players and said....Oh YEAH ? Wait and see what they do.
They beat some pretty formable teams on the way, and came within one or 2 kicks to beating Germany, arguably the top contender.
Even if they won though, they'd be behind the 8 ball going forward as so many of their players would be ineligible to play due to so many yellow cards.
....as far as your German made pizza cutter.....HA. Germans don't even know what pizza is let alone make a cutter. I don't see people clamoring to go to Germany for their food, but Italy on the other hand....I'll be there come September and they aren't going to know what hit them. HT SYSTEM-
