Parasound A21 would be a big upgrade over Yamaha PC2002M ?

I have my modded SDA SRS 2s with a Yamaha PC20002m and a Parasound P5. Sounds good but it can always sound better, right? Would a A21 be an obvious improvement or would I have to try it, to hear for myself? I know there's always hate for pro amps, so lets hear it!

That is actually one of Yamahas highly regarded amps, though I've never heard one personally. I ran Yamahas top of the line consumer amp (which still brings over a grand!!) and it always had good power, but lacked some musicality.
Parasounds are great amps, I had an A21 and loved it on my 1.2tls and thought it was superior in every way to the Yamaha.
Consider the A21 is about 25 years newer and has some great technology built into it. If you could listen to one first that would be best case scenario.

You might be able to get away with an A23 and save yourself $1500. The Halo amps run a lot of current and the SRS 2 don't need a ton of watts.

After listening last night, I think I'll leave well enough alone. It runs cool and quiet and has plenty of power to drive the Polks to an easy 115 db. Thanks for the advice!

After another listen, I do think it sounds a bit strident. I might give a A23 an audition.

P5 and A23 are a good pair. This is what I run with my SDA 2BTL.

So, I probably don't need the extra power of the 21, right? Vocals are where it is not sounding great.

You need a warmer musical amp, something most pro amps lack. You can do with either Parasound amp and if your on a budget, look at the HCA series 1200 or 1500 which can be had for 4-500 bucks. Certainly not as pretty as the Halo's but have about 90% of their sound at a fraction of their costs....give or take.

I think I'll try a A23 after I sell my Yamaha. Probably get one from DSkip.
