    Poor guy. In the late 80's we had offices in the same building as his in LA. He walked past me a couple of times and it seemed Parkinson's had already started.
    Heckuva long time to go through that. He was a great boxer, showman and personality in his day.

    When we were kids and would pretend box, we'd each excitedly pick a fighter's name and argue at stuff like how Muhammed Ali would kick Larry Holmes' butt and so whoever had that name would win. Back and forth we'd go, sometimes ending up fighting for real. Muhammed Ali was the name everyone wanted.

    There are some people you never really think will be gone, and will just always sort of be there. Muhammed Ali was one of them. Very sad.

    I really haven't paid much, if any, attention to boxing since the 70s. All of the kids on our block would get together and watch the Ali fights. I remember it being a really huge deal.

    Parkinson's is absolutely brutal (a gross understatement). It took my uncle and my dad is just about at stage 5. As magnificent as Ali was in the ring, IMHO those feats pale in comparison to his extraordinarily long battle against such a vicious brain disease.

    Ali's boxing feats and gigantic personality rightfully should be celebrated around the world. I personally hope his heroic fight against Parkinson's is celebrated just as much. RIP champ!
