Polk DB+

Some of you might have noticed that we publicly debuted a new line of car/marine/off road audio called DB+. While the name is familiar, this is an entirely new line, redesigned specifically to fit many more vehicles, up the ante on marine grade protection, and of course up the sonic performance.

Thought you might like to check it out.... and even if you are not into car audio, check out the DB+ micro site. It will give you a sense of how we want to treat new products going forward. A bit more information and context.

We've played with concepts like this internally on the design team. To get the market size large enough we have tried to make it fit more than UTVs, but it is a difficult opportunity to asses, especially when we think about opportunity cost. In general we tend to have a surplus of ideas and concept, so every idea we choose to do equals another 3 or 4 we choose not to do (I wish we could make them all).

Long story short, its a good idea and I hear you. We have a few other critical projects on the roadmap in home theater and 12v audio as well that we need to get out to the public. After those release it might be a good time to come back to an idea like this.

Most of the independents who carry the old DB line will be switching over to the DB+ series. Where do you live? I can ask sales who would have them in your area.

Given no mounting constraints, ie mounting depth, which would have the best SQ, the DB or DB+?

The Model 1010 looks a little big for the doors but, with some mods, I think I can replace the door with the Model 990's. :)
