I'm running Siemens triple micas now. They sound great but I wanted to try something more lush. Hope these will do the trick.

The 5751 version of this tube is killer also. Good score, I'd like to have a pair myself, if you don't mind me asking, where did you come up with these?

Definitely keepers! Warm and sweet but still detailed. Not as punchy as the Siemens but still punchy. The Siemens sound great but were a little too much of a good thing for my system. These are just what I was hoping for!

You must have gotten their last pair, I ordered a pair Sat. and just received word today that they were out stock on that particular tube.

Don't know why venders don't remove an item from their available stock listings when they are sold out :/

    Mike,
I like these enough that I'm looking for a second pair for backup. I searched for Sylvania 12at7wa and found several that look identical but say grey plates instead of black plates. Mine are decidedly black plate and the ones i found look like black plates. Take a look at TC tubes, Cryoset and tubestore.com. I'm planning to email them and find out if they're actually black plates.

These have wide plates and bridged filaments, that's the difference.

I've got a fairly large stash of AT7's, I'll get by!

    Good luck!

Both are nice tubes in the Dared, the Black Plates getting the nod. The 2 mica, bp 6201 gold pins being even better if you can find them.

I've sold off most of my 12AT7/ECC81's but kept a few pairs in the stash, the above being one of them.

    Sylvania 5965's are also excellent.

    Mike,
I have a lot to learn. What are bridged filaments and what's their benefit? How do you tell by looking?

I own older Sylvania tubes for every position of my various tube amps, and they never disappoint with some being excellent. Gold Brand always being consistently the best with a house sound (in general) that is always very detailed, but never harsh or over bearing and the gray plates have excellent, tight bass with a liquid midrange that is very hard to duplicate. Some say the midrange is a little to forward, but I don't think so. The overall size of the soundstaging is exceptional.

I am running a pair of elusive ECC85 black plate's in my Dared MP-5 clone and they are superb! My favorite 6SL7 is the 50's tall base JAN CHS 6SL7WGT black plate w/square getter. Simply puts you right in the front row, the enveloping soundstage is phenomenal.

Currently running a single 1962 Sylvania 6189 Gold Brand (military version of the 12AU7), 3 mica gray plate, square getter in my Eastern Electric Dac Plus. So good I bought a quad to run in my Eastern Electric Avant Pre-amp with a pair of the same year Sylvania 5751 GB, 3 mica, square getter, gray plates.

Good question, as I have NO idea. That was a quote from the ebay seller as to what the differences were between the tube you have and what he has left in stock.

Just thought it might help to know the specs in your quest to find another pair identical to what you have now, sooo many different varieties of the same tube!

Time to find some Amperex France 12AT7! After rolling and rolling, they always go back to my Manley pre for a good reason.

You must have gotten their last pair

    Mike,
If you're still looking, I found another pair of JHS TM BP 12AT7WA's at tctubes.com. They're not listed on the website but I emailed them and asked. They told me they have some in stock but they need to be tested. I got an email the next day that they found a matched pair. They're on the way. It sounds like they have more. Good luck!
