Odd couple question

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried a strapped pair of Mcintosh mc2100's on their sda's and if so what are your thoughts on the pairing? I have a pair of 2100's that I use on a secondary set up and last weekend out of sheer boredom while it was raining I hooked them up to my 1.2tl's with the 1000kva dreadnaught. I was not expecting much out of these borderline antique amps but wow was I mistaken. How can this be??? Before I say too much more I'd like to see if anyone else has tried something similar and what their thoughts are.

Haven't tried it with the gear you mentioned, but I have a vintage MC 240 and 110 pre that drives my monitor 7's and 10b's nicely..I find some of the old Mac gear pairs very well with the old monitors..not all do,but that amp/ pre is one heck of a pairing...

My one week honeymoon is now over with the 2100's on my 1.2tl's. I've found they have a signature sound similar to a loudness compensation which gets tiring after a bit. This particular sound grabbed my attention right away as I've never heard my polks produce that much bass. They had me thinking structural damage to my building type bass that was borderline ridiculous. But reality tells me those 2100's are better suited for speakers from the same time period (early 70's) that need that boost at the low and top end and not a good match for the polks which do not need any help.

Indeed....indeed. You just can't get that with the 10 second A/B switching BS.

Exactly. It took most of the week playing swap the amps for me to figure out what was going on. At first I was thinking I'd discovered a great pairing. But the more I listened and went back and forth I found that it's actually a terrible pairing. A short listening session would not have revealed that.
But those 2100's do sound great with my 45 year old Mac ML1C speakers. They benefit greatly from those boosted lows and highs. That's a pairing that I do intend to keep together.
