CRS+ passive grill preferences

Apologies if this has been covered. I didn't find any information using search, and I have a couple pairs of monitors I'm trying to sell so I need to boost my count!

I'm curious to know if anyone can share their experience with with CRS+ passive grills on vs. off.

I'm about to install my Larry's rings and am wondering if it's worth drilling out the metal, or if I should save pristine grills for a future project.

I'm open to solutions I haven't thought of either. Thanks all!

I just used a a cut off wheel and ground small slots through the edge to accommodate the screws, worked perfect, and much easier than drilling holes in the perf material..

    Plus you can't even tell...

Thanks for the tip Larry. Ever since i installed the Xovers in mine they have been off. I cant say for sure if its better without vs on. I notices the bass improved with the Xovers from WMG. I have all intentions of putting them back on though. I dont believe it will effect it enough to notice with my beat up ears

I left mine off after upgrades, but only so it would be easier to clean them. My passives were pretty dirty and I don't feel like having to take the grille off every time the need a wipe down. Hard to imagine that on/off makes a difference in low freq response of a passive radiator, but someone might have hard proof one way or the other. I'd be interested to hear it.

I can't see there being any sound difference with them on or off. The only reason they are there so you don't put your hand through the speaker when you go to move them. I have seen that done a few times on other speakers with subs or passive in the back.

I'd call that a bad day!

That'd be a bad week until I could get a replacement shipped in. I play my CRSs every night and whenever I am at home on the weekends.
