I know it is directed to those affected but thank you for your thoughts. I've read that surrounding towns are tying ribbons to their doors or mailbox signalling they are accepting strangers to come stay with them. Animals are being kept in backyards ( horses cows pigs) people are coming together to help fellow Albertans out.

Living in Alberta, we have had it a little rough lately, floods that devistated our province which we are still recovering from, and now this crazy fire! I feel for the people in fort Mac, it's horrible... some even left their pets behind to find out there home burnt down within 20 minutes of them leaving. It's a serious fire that is out of control, it has spread across rivers. Here in Calgary we smell smoke, and there is a haze over the city. I hope they can get a handle on this soon, we are used to snow at this time of year, yet it's been up to 30 degrees Celsius for months now, and barely any rain.

Yes it's a very serious fire over there, I have some family that live there and have evacuated to other family homes away from this horrible situation.
I was reading the local new there and the Fire Marshall said that even with all the water planes and Helos and ground crews, he said " I want to be perfectly clear that we can't get this fire under control unless a significant amount of rain helps us, it's too big"
    Thems scary words there..

Definitely insane, within minutes it was a blaze. A friend of mine living in fort Mac said, "my house is ok.. I think. But they shut off the power and everything in the fridges and freezers will rot. But house will most likely be smoke damaged."

Hope all our Canadian brothers and sisters are safe, even the ones we don't know. You Cannucks are all alright in my book, a tad squirrely, but good people. :)

Some of those areas up there, you only have one or two roads going in or out. If those roads are toast, your in deep do-do. Hope none of you find yourselves in that situation.

Just out of curiosity, can't the government go up and seed the clouds for rain ? Not a new concept, they've been doing it since Vietnam.
