If you guys new me you would know that I really do feel bad for Bill, I know how excited I was knowing I had one on the way. I am sorry, please don't hold a bad opinion of me because of this, I reacted to quickly and do regret it. I love this forum and like the people here but if I am not welcome I will leave. Bob.

Meh, no money exchanged, no foul. People put up feelers here all the time & often change their mind.

I'm sure your fine. I've also put stuff up for sale and then pulled it down before as have many folks.....

The frustration of learning how to get new pieces of gear to work right, or not liking their sound before they are burned in is a fact.

I've sold some stuff that I regretted later, so better to be on the cautious side.

No worries, Bob. But as punishment, you are required to purchase a new set of MIT speaker cables for your system. Then sell them for half price the next week.

Dude, I think you're more upset than I am. We're all in this together. This is not the first time I've been disappointed, and it won't be the last. That's what makes finding the right gear so rewarding. I love the thrill of the chase, and if it was easy all the time it wouldn't be as fun.

Bob - don't beat yourself up man! You had a change of heart - it happens. Bill's a good guy as are you. No reason to think you'd be run out of the community for wanting to give that pre a second chance!

People have 'seller's remorse' all the time. You caught yours before it was too late. B)

I'm trying to figure out a way to get Bill to send back the little Parasound HCA-750A amp I sold him. (Bill, can I pick a number between 10 and 10? :p) I miss that piece... my Carver amp just isn't as warm.

Are the P5 fans all analog users? My P5 looks good in my rack but I am not using it, I really like my 851D.

In the end, everyone's an analog user. Has to be before it hits the speakers right ? Have you tried using the analog outs of the 851 into the P5 ? You might gain another dimension in your musical enjoyment.

Thanks Tony, tru'nough, should have said Tt user. I will try running the 851 thru the P5, my instinct is less is more, adding another component won't help me recreate 'close to original recording' as pos, which I suspect is my goal...

The less is more analogy Colin works at times, and others not so much. I understand getting as close to the original recording as possible, but by who's standards is that judged ? Yours I would hope, and only one way to find out if the P5 brings you closer to that objective, and that's to give it a shot.

I'm kinda surprised you haven't yet. You'd think that P5 would be more in tune to the British sound of which I think your accustomed to. ;)

Thanks skip & tb. It's been too long, the British sound is a faint memory.
Help me understand, my 851D is a digital preamp-'volume controls my A21. What does the P5 add, or is it adding a slight British accent? Thank you.

It should add more flesh to those bones, so to speak. A wider soundstage, better tone I would think. Doesn't hurt to try it, just use a decent pair of RCA cables from the dac to the pre. I know the allure is one component to replace 2, but that doesn't always equate to better sound....if that's the objective.
