Denon 4200 vs Pioneer Elite sc91

I missed buying a Denon 4200 here on the forum and now looking around on e-bay for an up to date unit. I liked the Denon as it is 4 ohm capable to drive my LSI 9's and the bluetooth and atmos. The Pioneer is equally equipped but unsure as to the 4 ohm capability nor am I sure if either has pre-outs if I decide to go back to an amp. I would appreciate your feedback. The 7 to 8 hundred range is good for me but maybe up to 1k, Mike

And I forgot to mention, if anyone has a unit with these specs you want to sell, now would be the time to raise your hand.

Don't think that model has pre outs, but would have no problem driving your 4 ohm speakers.

Not a fan of Denon, so I would choose the Pioneer between the two.

The Yamaha in the mix, I would choose it. It's 4 ohm capable, and has preouts for an amp later on. Yamaha probably has the most experience in sound research above the 7.x than any other manufacturer. Without an amp the Pioneer will probably do a better job driving you speakers.

Thank you for your input rpf65, I appreciate it. I have a small HT about 12 x 16 with an 8 ft ceiling and I can't explain why but I would rather just use the AVR...I have lots of amps just laying around but don't think I really need them. So I want a 4 ohm capable unit with pre-outs and the latest gizmos, such as atmos and blue tooth.

If you don't want to use an amp, go with the Pioneer. It's a very capable receiver, and it may not be as good as a stand alone amp, has a very capable amplifier section.

I'd second that suggestion.....if you plan on staying with bookies. If your plan is to drive bigger speakers down the road though, a separate amp would be the bigger priority.

Thanks guys, I think I will do something on the order of the least costly pioneer with pre-outs atmos and blue tooth, a late model unit. Tis a shame I haven't figured out how to work in my old Adcom pre amp GTP-600 into the modern mix of things as I like the way it sounds for 2 ch and 5 ch cinema but without even HDMI or an Optical it's hard to get the signal back and forth, and no wireless or bluetooth or front height or atmos. I hate spending more coin on this new stuff while I have scads of equipment just taking up space in my closet.
