experience with sulfur in well water?

It is only in hot water, have replaced the aluminum anode rod with alum w. zinc, lessened a bit but still, its stink bomb time in the house after a shower.
Thankfully as a trapped gas, it dissipates into air and does not make me smell and I use cold water for laundry.
I have read online to put 3 pints of hydrogen peroxide into water heater, bleach into well, and remove anode rod completely.
The other options are rather expensive, a several hundred dollar simple little aerator you attach at well head, all the way up to 8-900 bucks for a permanent triple stage inline filter
but that's hard to believe as it does not have a outlet line for sediment removal and it claims it also takes care of that problem, which all wells have.
Any personal experience advice would be much appreciated.

We went with Culligan and had them add an aerator to flush the water with air to strip off the sulfur. We already had a water softener because of too much dissolved iron and manganese. It has worked fine for years now. Just have to add water softener salt. Beats gagging in the shower due to the rotten egg smell.Front - Polk LSiM 705, Center - Polk LSiM 704c, Rear - Polk LSi 7

An activated carbon filter should solve your problem. Plumber installed should be around $300 range. Filters cost about $40-50 each. Depending on sulfur content change 6-12 months.

How deep is your well? In this area the good water starts around 100 feet. In most areas here there will be a layer of water with a high sulfer content at anywhere from 30 to 60 feet. Good filtration is a must here if only to keep sand from creating issues inside the house but can help with smells.

Aeration with chlorine sticks is what they do here in SW FL. I am about 3 weeks from going on city water... but the well thing has been ok. Still going to use treatment for pool and R.O for ice and cooking. My New Year's resolution is 3840 × 2160

I have been fortunate, we're 126ft down, and the water is very good. No heavy mineral taste at all, and never a sulfur issue.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

we are a couple hundred feet down, only problem we have had before was a silt which was easily filtered out.
I use much less hot water than when deb was alive, not just because of 2 people showering, but she would wash manysmall loads of clothes, whereas I just throw everything together except whites.
We have a fair bit of iron here, not enough to stain, but from what I read, the iron reacts with sulfides and the resulting bacteria in the tank cause the sulfur to become more pronounced.
Another thing I read was a fouling heating element can contribute to the problem if the other factors are present.
Lastly I'm going to try turning the thermostat to about 130, some posts I have read say that can solve it.
We now have a solid replaceable filter to deal with the silt, I'm going to add a second with the charcoal filter.
thanks for all the help.humpty dumpty was pushed -
You're thinking "Nevada" buddy. I'm in the San Pedro valley--actually the San Pedro is about 1/2 mile from my front door.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
I have 2 wells on my property. One is a bored well at around 40'. In the past the water from this well had a sulphur smell. Adding a gallon of bleach helped out. The other well that we use in the house, drinking water etc. Is a drilled well at 348'. Never have any issues. Water is cold, no chlorine, minerally taste at all.--Gary--

Okay, before heading to Atlanta Tuesday to spend some time with my sister, I set the thermo on the heater to 150.
Came back yesterday, immediately ran and sniffed the hot water, not a whiff of stank.
Also learned after only one time to mix a little cold in when washing hands Hachimama.
Thanks for all the advice, thinkin I will turn it down to about 140 which will still be a little higher than the temp advice I read on the net to solve this problem.humpty dumpty was pushed
