I might jump on this model? Just wondering what people think about it? It will be my most expensive TT purchase yet. Thanks. D

Great table, with servo controlled tonearm and damn sexy to boot. They can fetch a pretty penny. That being said I would stay away if it goes for much over $650-700ish. If you do get it, put some dynamat or read up on some of the plinth damping methods folks do with this table on Vinyl Engine (like plastacene filled toilet paper cardboard rolls-not kidding!!!). Apparently the plinth is not dampened very well and can ring. Another thing to think about on the Japanese computer controlled masterpieces from back in the heyday is they are awesome when they are running right, but if something goes wrong, parts can be difficult if not impossible to find. Unfortunately I'm dealing with this with one of this tables direct counterparts, a Sony PS-X75 Biotracer. When everything is running good however........they are hard to beat even with modern tables in the $1500 range or more. Oh btw, if the deck you are looking at comes with the S-shaped arm, that is a real plus as it is compatible with a wider range of carts, including some moving coil carts that are lower compliance. You can use lighter weight headshells for the higher compliance carts like many of the excellent classic moving magnet carts.

That thing looks like TOTL compaired w/ my JVC QL-A-200. What cart did this come with. I originally had a very used Grado FT+1 and just installed a Grado Black. It's quiet, semi automatic and runs fine. got mine for $70 + shipping from Tom Hanley retail partner w/Terry Dewick of Dewicks McIntosh repair and rehab.
No affiliation just a customer.
No way to compare your is just that much higher end then mine. Man, sorry to hear that! $350 is a steal for that table. I found one for $400 one time and almost pulled the trigger. The only problem was it was 500 miles away. I found something else that caught my eye locally (Sonagraphe SG-3) and decided to go with that. I'm very happy with the SG-3. If I ever find a QL-Y66 locally for a decent price, I'm jumping on it, It's on my short list of vintage decks.
