I talked my friend Rocky into buying a pair of those when they first came out. (hell, I couldn't afford them at the time)
He'd just gotten out of the navy and was setting up a party pad, so I thought that, we his friends should have some righteous sounds to listen to while we spent many brain cells during the weekend.
He had a killer Sansui quad reciever that he brought back from the PX.
He used to have this 8 track recorder and when he came home from work, he'd pop in a blank tape and record a local whackjob DJ, Stoneman from WPLR.
On the weekends he'd play those recorded broadcasts at random, so sometimes we'd be playing poker in the dead of winter and hear how the temps tomorrow will be in th high 80's and stuff like that.
