OEM stereo and speaker/amp upgrades

I have a 2004 Toyota 4runner with the factory stereo/cass/CD player (not the JBL upgrade) and would like to keep the OEM dash unit. Can I add an amp and some Polk speakers to get more sound out of the stock system?

    You should be able to if you find an amp that fits your needs and has high-level inputs. You can still do it with an amp that only has low-level inputs (RCA jacks) but, the conversion is a source or noise and interference.
