Do the PA D1000.1, 2000.2, 4000.4, and 5000.5 car amplifiers have balanced inputs?
I'm currently planning an install in a car whose head unit outputs balanced signals. I want to ensure compatibility without having to install a line out converter (LOC) in between the head and the amp to convert the signal from balanced to unbalanced. I'd prefer to connect directly from the head unit to the amplifier without any additional electronics.

It might be a DIN port. Alpine, Kenwood and some older Clarion head units had them.
Remember those, Ken? Good times. -
Line out converter? Wouldn't your head unit just have RCA "line out" already?
We typically used a LOC for speaker level to RCA conversion, which has terrible quality.Main Surround -

Russ....I do remember those days! Still wasn't a balanced connection either as the signal was low level just as with the good old fashioned RCA jacks that every head unit manufacturer went with.

I remember what you are talking about Russ. My Concord had the same type of connector. It was smaller than a balanced connection plug and for the life of me cannot remember what it was called. I installed a Kenwood amp that had RCA inputs so had the actual cable modified to switch over to the RCA. A friend at an installers did the modification but only took about ten minutes so could not have been anything major.

****!!! There again, it's been a while.
The old style DIN connectors had all the info in one cord. Signal, remote switch, etc.
Kinda like an HDMI today. -
um one question, I've been involved with car audio for several years and to this date I've never ever seen a head unit with balanced pre-outs mainly because they take up way too much space for the mobile environment. Could you possibly post what head unit you have?
The head unit is an OEM stereo (technically, CiC) for a BMW. The pre-amplifier signals are balanced. If you want to tap into these signals, you have to have an amplifier with balanced inputs.

What make and model Bimmer? I-drive? Early 2000s touch screen?

Lots of posts but no one offering any real pertinent information relative to the question. If you don't have any actual knowledge about these amps and whether they accept balanced signals, please don't clutter up the thread. Thx.
So, again, do the following amplifiers have balanced inputs?
PA D1000.1
PA D2000.2
PA D4004.4
PA D5000.5
Thanks in advance! -
Just trying to get a baseline on the head unit. Have a nice evening.

Yeah. Thx. I saw that. It doesn't seem to mention anything about the Polk amps though. There's also another thread on Bimmerpost with a list. However, again, no mention of the Polks -
