Yamaha rxv-2600 with YPAO mic. Trying to get the audio adjusted. Would i need to have hdmi-to-tv monitor hooked up ? Having a heck of a time getting this to work. I install the mic into the receiver & it doesnt even show up on the front panel of receiver & ive played around with the remote & nothing....manual shows this. wlad3f4jqy2f.png4edk7tq943d7.png

I have it hooked up basic = for tv im running Optical -to- Cable/Sat & also a dvd player-to-dvd rca cord (i dont think dvd player is hdmi) ...... What the issue here is i notice left front speaker needs to be raised up & balanced equally. Even on Pure Direct its down some. There doesnt seem to be a manual way to do this (i dont think). I am not good with setting up & adjusting things. I want to learn this unit. But very frustrated with over 4+ hours trying..... Can i run HDMI from back of receiver-to-TV ? Or do i not need to do this ? Here is manual if willing to help. Thank you

It would help if you had the on screen display, which HDMI is needed. To adjust speaker levels manually, take your screen shot....manual setup, push the right curser button and go to sound and hit enter. It should give you more choices.

Why, same if not worse setup processes. A processor has even more levels of adjustment than a receiver.

Gonna have to get your learn on is all, it's really quite easy once you grasp it, then again everything is easy once you know how to do it, right ?

Word of caution though when using that setup mic if you go that route. It needs to be in your sitting position at ear level. You can accomplish that with a tri-pod, or stacking books on the couch to get it up that high. Also you can't make any noise while running the automatic setup, no appliances turning on or off, dogs barking, kids running around, phone ringing, lawn mowers going outside, footsteps from an upper floor, etc. Doesn't take long, just needs dead silence.

.....and you still may have to make manual adjustments after that so get used to where they are in the menu and what they do.

Thanks. My rxv1500 i would just plug the mic in & hit a button & it was pretty simple. This 2600 i guess will need to use a screen . I have a tripod & last time i did a mic set up, it worked pretty good too

Ok. I hooked it to tv hdmi & walla its working. Sure enough ya got to use screen on tv. Worked like a charm. Ok i got to be honest now. I got it done & threw a Nora Jones cd in & darn thing is still low on left channel. So then i tried the tuner & perfect. Ok. The Denon dvd player has always worked perfect & i musta hit the cable & all it needed was to be pushed back in. OMGosh what a idiot. I got it tuned in & working very good now........... Now next issue. Ive got slight hum from where i have optical coming from TV into receiver. When i shut tv off it goes away. Im gonna clean ends & try that first. Ive been moving gear around & maybe its the same issue here too

Cool man, glad it's working for ya. The hum is probably too many grounds going to the same place, or could be cables of lessor quality. Do you have a power conditioner ?

If not, try a 2 buck cheater plug from the hardware store on the receiver, not the TV. It's a small plug that converts a 3 prong plug to a 2, lifting the ground. You won't hurt anything, so before ya ask...lol.

Thanks. I may have one of those cheat'r adaptors. I Definetly need a conditioner. Thats on the must have list. Im running Pangea's right to outlet & the receiver & tv & others into some Monster thing that i want to replace. I tried cleaning up all contacts (which i actually do anyways) but its still there & only when the tv & Comcast tv unit is on

Take a look at the cables your using, if they are bottom of the barrel Walmart stuff, swap them out for better quality.

Your receiver is the hub of all those connections, if anything, put the cheater plug on the receiver. If that doesn't work, start investigating better cables or power conditioners.

Those should be of decent quality, just check them for any cracks or abnormal wear and tear around the plugs.

Yamaha ypao definitely has some quirks. It kept telling me all my speakers were hook up out of phase. RX-v1900 I then purposely hook them up out of phase guess what it told me then.......yep out of phase.... Denon at least has it locked up easy peasy...

Yea, on my Yamaha 663 receiver ,I'll have to go into the menu and check speaker distances ,sizes, etc.... . Then I'll use my db meter for speaker levels. That hum is probably just a poor connection or cable routing. I remember some folks having a bit of a problem sometimes with their cable tv cable not being grounded properly outside the home. You'll just have to spend a little time checking into it.

Sounds like a ground loop hum that could be caused by a couple of different things. It's usually caused by cable or satellite boxes. I know people on this forum have run cable ground loop isolators to eliminate this problem. I run my cable through my Panamax conditioner and it's dead silent. If you unplug and disconnect the TV and Cable from your AVR and put on FM or a CD, do you still hear the hum?

And as Tony has mentioned, the intermixing of 2 prong plug components with 3 prong plug components can also introduce the hum. My older Denon AVR did this and I needed a Hum X/cheater plug on my amp. When I purchased my Marantz pre/pro with the same set-up there was no hum without the cheater plug.

^^^^ havent messed with it. Will try those. Wife had other plans earlier..... Great tips guys. I have/had a few small speed bumps & im getting there :) i brought the volume up more than usual earlier OMG this sounds soooo good. Between the xovers from WMG & the Parasound the crs's dance. I almost gave up on the Yammy & ive had quite a few & never been disappointed with them. I may take a few things to a different level in the future.
