One of the greatest...very sadOh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

I knew he was in trouble when he kept having these recent bouts with pneumonia. Then he cancelled all his current concerts. I've seen him perform many times, once I saw him open five nights in a row for Bob Dylan in Chicago and he was having health problems back whenever that was probably ten years ago already. I have the upmost respect for the man. A real musician, Dylan recently wrote the song Workingman's Blues #2 as a gesture to Merle. Record companies didn't promote his newer stuff, some of his latest records are top notch. RIP Merle, they don't make 'em like you anymore.
-
Died on his birthday. Sounds like a country song in the making. RIP Merle.
-
I will spin some Hag tonight and have at least a couple of drinks on his behalf.
RIP Mr. Haggard -
When I was young, I hated country music, but now I have come to like some of the old school country stuff, but I don't care for the new pop they call country. Merle's stuff is some of the stuff that I have grown to appreciate. Rest in peace my friend.Living Room

Merle Haggard lived the life written in his songs. The true soul of his music is timeless. I shall raise a glass in his honor. Rest easy, sir.

In this picture... he looks like the world's most interesting man, though I think Merle would have preferred a good bourbon or single malt to Dos IckiesThe Gear...
