Awesome. I'm going to get all the new vinyl remasters up to Grace Under Pressure instead of hunting for good originals, I think they sound better anyway. After that album is where I stop being a Rush fan. ;)

Are the HDtracks remastered? Most of Rush's CD's are around $5 from Amazon. Are the HDtracks any better, considering they cost more than twice as much? The bit rate is higher that CD quality, but that doesn't mean it's going to sound better.

Yes, they were remastered at Abbey Road. Yes, they sound better IMO, less in your face midrange which I am not a fan of. Listen to that YouTube video up a few posts on some headphones or decent speakers and decide for yourself. Yeah, it's a YouTube video, but it still gives you a general idea of tonality differences.

When you're on the albums page just check the release date for 2015 but I'm pretty sure all of them are.

I'm leaning towards the BRA of 'a Farewell to Kings' though my original vinyl
    is solid...
I was hoping you would try PWaves but it is past your cut off. :)
My wife loves the 1981-1996 period but...

I like Permanent Waves. That is the first album where they went away with the long prog songs but I still like it along with Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure. After that is where they started replacing the guitars with the keyboard synthesizer type stuff and I just couldn't do it any longer.

With a low pass filter at 15khz. Might not matter to me as I'm old...

Just sayin' for those all digital guys out there. The hirez downloads MIGHT be better.
(like the Zeppelin where they actually took advantage of the "new" medium)

Yeah, it probably wouldn't have made a huge difference if they were cut from 96/24. The remaster is the reason to buy them or not, depends on what kind of sound you like I suppose. That and the records are brand new and haven't been played for 30 years. Quality Record Pressing did a great job pressing the new ones.

Thanks. My 2 channel system is currently packed up so I am relying on poor computer speakers and not the greatest headphone setup. Between the two there is a definite difference but the setups are too crappy to tell which is better. I have a USB headphone pre that I can try later tonight with better headphones. With what I have so far I do agree with you that it seems like the Ludwig original recording is midrange heavy and kick drums are lacking.

Rush is one of my all-time favorite bands. I think I have bought the majority of their albums up to "Hold Your Fire" on almost every format except mp3 (for obvious reasons). Now I have an itch that won't go away until I buy the new remastered Vinyl AND HDtracks.

May be my hearing is messed up, but the original pressing(1st demo) sounded better than the re-issue?

I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

Everyone has different tastes. I have a very nice copy of "A Farewell to Kings" I can sell you after I replace it with a 2015 copy. :)
