I wish to upgrade my trucks stock speakers with some polk speakers. The stock speakers are 8ohm speakers and the polks are 4ohm speakers. Will switching them harm the stock radio/cd player or the speakers. I can't find any specs in my manual on the stock radio/cd player, nor do I know enough about ohms to make an educated decision. Please help!!

you might cook the stock radio -- i really dont know -- you'll have to find out to what impedance (# of ohms) it is stable... the lower the impedance, the more "juice" gets drawn from the radio... if the radio can't handle such little resistance (or can't put out that much "juice") then you might damage it.

if it is within your budget, you would be advised to get a cheap aftermarket radio -- a good budget level kenwood cd player can be had for about 100 bucks. you can snag a panasonic online for as little as 90. any aftermarket radio should be fine with polk speakers or any other aftermarket speakers.
