A mini review of the Vincent SV-236 + Bonus Pics

I had the Vincent up and running for a few weeks now-kudos to Luther (Wardsweb) on a super smooth transaction. This integrated is a beast; I needed two of my sons to help me lift it due I jacked my back up recently. It is a beautiful piece with 6 RCA inputs, defeatable tone controls, and real, non plasticy remote control. The pre amp section uses 3 vacuum tubes and the amp section is 150 watts of SS-which is plenty for my LSiM703s.
The first CD I listened to via my TEAC 1000 was Chungas Revenge by the late, great Frank Zappa. If you are not familiar with this album, it runs of gamet of Zappas musical styles; it can sound harsh on the wrong stereo. Right of the bat I was hearing subtle details on an album which were hidden from me for 40 years, when I first liberated the album from my Dads record collection. The influence of the tubes on music is recognizable right away, and mediocre recordings really don't shine (I guess this is how one is forced deeper down the rabbit hole). So far, jazz and classical really sound great, as well as anything with a medium to slow pace; piano, organ, bells, etc. really carry much longer before disappearing. Last word and I'll cut this off-my speakers sound boomy with some recordings-they are 12" from the back and 18" from the sides. All the walls in the room are 5/8 drywall with Roxul insulation behind; this was part of my 2 year journey to finish the other half of the basement. Enjoy the the pics and cheers,

You got a statement piece that integrated of yours is good stuff, my Vincent Preamp looks like the pre section of your integrated. Luther offered to sell me that integrated and had I not already ordered my pre, I would of bought it. I had Zappa one size fits all blasting last night. I'm happy for you welcome to the Vincent club, I might just put on Chungas revenge next.

    Very nice!!

Some room treatments may help the boominess.

That setup looks really sharp. Congrats on the new gear.

Perhaps corner traps for the front corners? How big would you suggest....I have some large traps I DIYed awhile back I am looking to repurpose. I'm guessing corner traps should be pretty thick......thoughts?

Nice unit you got there, thanks for sharing.

Outside of Rogue Audio, I'm very much looking at Vincent products. I've yet to listen to them....but the feedback regarding price to performance seems good.

Mine too, Scott made some nice stuff back in the day and even their receivers were well built. Definitely worth bringing back up to snuff.

Congrats on the Vincent btw, always nice to get new toys.

Just an observation from the cheap seats.....that first reflection point on the right speaker appears to go right out the doorway.

Your boom issue, to me anyway, is a result of the Vincent in combination with the MIT cables. You may want to try an interconnect with some tight bass as a characteristic to offset it some. Room treatments may help some too.

Perhaps a room treatment in that adjoining room....funny you mention the ICs....they are next in line for an upgrade to S2s to match the speaker cables.
