I posted in the electronics section about a problem I was having with my yamaha 5590 rear center channel and the rti28's. Was just about to unhook the 5590 when I decided to maybe look at the speakers again.

I had bought another set of open box rti28's about two weeks ago to run up front. Unhooked one and hooked it up in the back and no funny noises or "rattlin" in the woofer. When I first bought the set I had hooked them up together according to a way someone suggested on the forum, but after two weeks went to just one and boxed the other up. The rear channel has always sounded different with these speakers, thought maybe it was just the decoding in the reciever. Is it possible the receiver has caused this. I don't listen to music or movies real loud, and the Yamaha plays everything very "clean". The problem with the speakers is defianetly with the woofers. I'll send them in, but I wonder if I've done somthing wrong. Sorry for the long post.
Thanks in advance,

Rob

Sounds like the woofer is blown...

Take your fingers, press evenly around the dust cap (center circle in the midbass, in case you dont know) -- then press in, and let it retract - if you hear a scratching noise, it is blown. At this point, contact Ken tommorow.

    Hope this helps.

I'll have to check. I did press in while the speaker was hooked up and it stpped the rattling. What is easier contacting ken(and how do I contact him) or just taking the speaker back to Circuit City and sending it in. If its just a matter of taking the woofer out and putting a new one in, I could probably do that. Thanks for the help.
