9500bt and a DirectTV receiver(hr24-500) remote doesn't work

I am having an issue with a 9500bt and a DirectTV receiver(hr24-500) remote. This is disappointing. I saw discussions for this issue but no resolution.
The SurroundBar 9500bt responds as expected when learning from the TV remote (Samsung). Volume up/Down/Mute and power on/off respond perfectly. The Direct TV remote works the TV but wont control the SurroundBar. I've disabled the lock feature for volume control and also tried it with the DTV remote set to TV.

Sounds more like a DTV issue than a soundbar one. Could be the 2 aren't compatible ? Maybe a good universal remote is your solution.HT SYSTEM-

Just moved my 6500bt sound bar and the remote will not work.
It has new batteries but will not respond. The fiber optic cable has a red light, and the wall out has power. I bought a new remote and I can't sync that one because the sound bar will not turn on. There is a small green light on in the back by the sync button.
any ideas. It was working fine.
