Electronic Ear Protection

Picking up my new gun tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has any experience with electric ear muffs? Good? Bad? I'd like to stay under $75. I'm leaning towards a pair of Howard Leight's.

One is probably like the rest at this point but I have always had good results with Peltor. Midway USA usually has decent prices. Look at the Range Guard model. About $60.00 if I remember correctly. For any center fire weapon with a compensator use foam ear plugs under the muffs.

I don't have any (would definitely like some someday) but my dad and uncle use them. They rate it right up there with inventing a round wheel, especially for hunting...Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

I tried on a pair of Caldwell's that a friend has and there was a low level static that was a little bothersome. He thought maybe the batteries were low. Do you guys have the same issues? Is that to be expected? Total newb with this.
