When is an Electrovoice Wolverine LS-15 NOT an Electrovoice Wolverine LS-15?

Heh... when it's an RCA SPR-15!
The EV "Wolverine" LS-15 was an entry-level 15 inch, high-sensitivity "fullrange" (twincone) 8 ohm driver introduced ca. 1960, mostly for hifi DIY. Some EV drivers were used by EV and others (notably, Col. Paul Klipsch) in commercial loudspeaker products, but I don't think the LS-15 ever was.
I know nothing about this particular specimen (these, actually -- this is one of a pair).
Clearly, though, it's an OEM LS-15... kind of an odd thing but RCA must've had some commercial sound reinforcement niche it felt obligated to fill with a 15" fullrange, high-sensitivity driver.

Interestingly, this particular pair of drivers was, at some point, circumcised (i.e., de-whizzered) :- P I hope that the mohel was both skilled and gentle.

Since the density of hard-core EV fanboys is probably fairly low here ;- ) I will also include a coupla photos of "normal" LS-15s, in all their whizzered glory, for comparison.

heh -- here's the only other reference to RCA branded EV OEM drivers I could find via Google. Interesting, but not too surprising.

The Partsexpress forum thread above shows an OEM version of the EV Wolverine LS-8 (which is a danged nice twincone 8" driver, see the Allied Catalog page scan posted above).
