Which polk style ceiling speakers for atmos
Debating on either the 900-ls or the 80f/x-ls for 5.1.4.
The other speakers I'm using are:
Lsim705 front
Lsim706 center
Lsi703 for surrounds
Leaning to the 900s since they have a 6" woofer as well and the 80s dont. Though no idea if woofers are needed for atmos.
Also the 80s tweeters are angled so no idea how that would sound when you want them pointed to the mlp.
Also does anyone know if you can change the direction of the tweeter on either model?

The product description doesn't indicate that the tweeters are moveable, however since the speakers are round and the tweeters are at an angle I would imagine the tweeters can be positioned by rotating them to a desired angle before locking them in place.
Polk has used a really good quality spring-loaded binding post in the past and I imagine they are doing the same with these. I've asked Polk CS to confirm. -

Ah, no idea how I missed it before but the site specs state spring loaded posts. So no banana but I'm using 10 Guage wire so wonder if that would fit.Full 5 channel set of Polk Audio

That should be fine for that distance.

Anyone have a clue if the 900-ls ceiling speakers are angled at all or point straight down?
I tried calling polk audio and he just told me thst the tweater are not moveable and it's the same for the fx80s.
Seriously long story cut real short.
I now have a large box of 4 900-ls ceiling speakers which I thought I canceled the order for 3 days before it got here but there here now. Tried to cancel and also ordered the 80f/x ls insted which are on the way cause there tweeters are angled and I could point them to the mlp.
Since I have the 900s I might be tempted to just keep them "if" the tweeters are angled somewhat so I can point them.
I can't find any info on this period and from the pictures I can tell.. even watched video of them and still could not tell!
I'd open the large box up and take a peek at one but the wife is afraid we will end up paying 15% on the return.

Done.. opened the large polk audio 900-ls box and yes there's 4 smaller individual boxes.
Keeping 2 and returning the other 2.
Sucks.. can only do 7.1.2 cause my new Denon x4200w receiver won't do more then 9 channels. Wife won't allow be to blow the extra $827 for the x6200w so I can use all 4 at most speakers.
All because I ordered the polk audio lsim 702 fx surround speakers. Can't get rid of those cause really it'd the only surrounds that will fit in the room.
Really blows cause it makes most sense to do all 4 now then to blow way more money later and patch these 2 holes in the ceiling and cut 4 more holes down the line. If u can even find the same matching speakers years later
Oh yeah.. the 900s do have a slightly angled tweeter. Hard to see but middle of the speaker is concaved so it's like guessing a 10 % angle.
Really feel I need to do a small review on the 900-ls and also the lsim702s since there really nothing out there on the net and even good pics are basic. Nothing showed me the fine details I wanted to see.
Anyone interested in the Lsim702s BUY THEM!
High quality just like the rest of the lsim line! Shockingly heavy and solid feeling! High end all the way!
