Great loudspeaker designer/engineer Roy Allison died in Manchester, NH earlier this week.
One of the greats of the "New England School" of loudspeaker design, and by all accounts a fine man.

R.I.P. Roy. One of the last of the pioneers of the audio industry.
-
He was right there with Edgar Villchur,Amar Bose,Rudy Bozak and Henry Kloss.
-
R.I.P. My college roommate bought a pair of Allison One's new when they came out, and still has them in mint condition, uses them as surrounds in his high-end HT, (Salks front and center), claims they are still top shelf and can be placed anywhere apparently. They are VERY desirable.

I have to thank him for my AR-4x I read.

I found my pair on the swap pile at our erstwhile (Harvard, MA) town dump.
One of my better finds there, actually.
Yes, they were, and are, excellent. Allison designed his loudspeakers for real-world environments, and (I would argue) was reasonably successful in so doing.

your dump is becoming legendary!

Notice that now that I don't live there any more I've outed its location ;- )

I still have the Allison 6s I purchased in ~1982, and recently VR3 Mods aka Trey rebuilt the crossovers for me. Every time I play music through these little two-way speakers in an 11" x 11" x 11" cube I am amazed by the sound quality they produce.
And, so is my wife!Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. Power source for all components: Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One with dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel.
Exercise Room, Innuos Streamer via Cat 6 cable connection to PS Audio PerfectWave MkII DAC w/Bridge II, AQ King Cobra RCAs to Perreaux PMF3150 amp (fully restored and upgraded by Jeffrey Jackson, Precision Audio Labs), Supra Rondo 4x2.5 Speaker Cables to SDA 1Cs (Vr3 Mods Xovers and other mods.), Dreadnaught with Supra Rondo 4x2.5 interconnect cables by Vr3 Mods. Power for each component from dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel, except Innuos Statement powered from Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One. -
