ELAC F5 Debut Series Floorstanders?

Has anyone on the forum heard these speakers? I am tempted by these and the rave reviews they are getting. Is it possible that they sound as good as the lsim series holding all other variables constant? I have a 7600 series NAD receiver, maybe i'd be better off upgrading my amp. I listen to music 95% of the time and run just the one set of speakers, no intent to add surrounds or subwoofer(s). Listening room is 15x20.
My apologies for not putting forth a very specific question beyond "are they better". I guess, more concisely, is it even in the realm of possibility that these can do anything as well as the lsim705? I guess i'm mostly hoping someone will just tell me to stick with what i have. haha! Thanks for the replies, good or bad...

Not the floor model, but the B6. Not bad for the money. Better than the LSiM's? Not a chance.Political Correctness'.........defined

thanks for the input, f1. The reviews i've read seem to indicate the elacs are the best thing since sliced bread but i like to slice my own, anyhow...

Being able to design and knowing what you want out of your design is FAR more important than the individual components used in the end product. AJ proves this.Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
This was interesting. Anthony Jones responds to a "ELAC B6 Upgrade" post. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=138550.0

Thanks Chuck, that was a good read.
I know and understand AJ is working with a price point and what he creates at those points is pretty amazing, but I have to agree with DR about the boomy bass/cabinets and the simple fix of adding Sound Barrier. Before I went whole hog crazy modding the Pioneer BR-22's I added nothing but Sound Barrier, which got rid of the boom resulting in a much better sound speaker for next to nothing. I heard the same boom in the B6's.Political Correctness'.........defined

I had a slight buzz around the beauty ring on one speaker so I emailed ELAC to give them the option of seeing the problem before I messed with it. Andrew Jones himself emailed be back, asked about the setup, explained a few things and so after a slight tap to the ring with a small finishing hammer all is good. Nice guy!Vinyl, the final frontier...

Cool that AJ is so involved, and not just a name.

Definitely from England if he solves engineering problems with a hammer.

That's a good article. Danny Ritchie is a great guy. He went so far above and beyond the call of duty for Gary Dodd when he was sick that I can't even begin to tell you. He told me he considered Gary his best friend and that Gary was an audio genius. Danny even provided Gary an apartment to live in near him when Gary's assets got sucked dry after multiple heart surgeries and lengthy hospital stays, etc. He had just set up a new partnership so Gary and he could produce a new line of gear when Gary suddenly died. I sent my preamp to Gary for an upgrade shortly before he unexpectedly died, and Danny and he designed an active subwoofer crossover for it, together with some other upgrades Gary performed. In the course of several discussions with Danny, it became immediately apparent how much audio knowledge he possesses. Google his company, GR Research, he offers some real nice bang for the buck DIY stuff in addition to other offerings. I believe he was involved in the crossover design for the Usher BE-718. I really enjoyed reading the thread here, its to the point and pragmatic. Like F1 said, the level 1 upgrade he discusses will take you to a much better sound for next to nothing. You can also take a good little speaker to a great level for a modest amount if you like. Anyway, thanks for the article madmax, I really enjoyed reading it.
