New Preamp and Phono stage incoming

Just ordered this Vincent SA-T1 preamp and this Vincent Pho-700 crazy I know but since it's my last audio purchase ever, I felt I was entitled, no more I say this is it. I hope to have this before the weekend will report back pretty excited, the wife's gonna kill me I hope I can sneak it in if I don't give a review in a few days she found out.

Now, I'm just going to leave that alone... On the wife score, I've found the "I'm just auditioning it for the Polk Forum" to work wonders... she seems to forget about things after she thinks they are temporary (and free)....

FWIW, I think the stock JJ in that Pho-700 is bright, LMK if you want to try something else and I'll send it your way!

Nice try on the mono blocks I'm done, but the best thing is I can roll tubes on both the preamp and the phono stage so I will be buying tubes eventually. Your to blame anyways Daryl

You just might have to Brian at Hi-fi heaven just informed me that pay pal won't ship to my work as the PP acct is connected to my home adress so he has to ship it to my house, so if I don't beat her to the ups truck you got some explaining to do Russ.

MrBuhl I well get a hold of you when I decide to roll some tubes thanks so did you give that stock tube in your Pho-700 much burn in time? The other question I have for you is do you stack the phono pre on the power supply or set them next to each other?

Yeah Skip after hearing those Ushers hooked up to that Ray guys tube amp I knew I had to have some tubes in the mix for the 2.3tls. Vincent is a German company so maybe my German wife will say something about how great it sounds since the gear originates from the motherland, I'm so not looking forward to her reaction.

Definitely do - that's a serious offer. I did not honestly give the stock ones much burn in at all - the synergy in my system was obviously not there from the start, but I think it's fairly revealing as it stands now so not very forgiving either.

I put mine side by side, some of the photos show them stacked (both the 8 and the 700) but it seems to fly in the face of having them separates to just have one on top of the other?

Maybe HFH packages in plain, nondescript brown paper. You know, like they used to do with adult films and stuff in the olden days. At least, that's how I heard they did it. From a friend.

Have you heard these pieces before? If not, I don't know how you can say this is the last gear purchase ever........

Usually one says that after the unit is broken in and listened too for a while.

It appears the tube in the window on the pre is just for display? The manual states it takes 1-12AU7 and 2-12AX7's, but I count 4 tubes if you include the display tube. Seems kind of odd, but even if it is only display at least you get a visual of some sort. I prefer tubes out in the open where I can look at them.

Vincent seems to make solid gear.

Which one of you guys got a spare room? Russ any extra room in your spacious motel room? The Preamp will be delivered today signature required the Wife's home got to work late. I got it covered I told her that it's for another polk member to demo this weekend to go ahead and sign for it it won't be around long, I slip my Adcom pre into the Vincent box after a week or so I set it somewhere where it will bother her she will move it and tell me it's in the way. I then say no problem honey I'm taking out to the car and ship it back out to where it belongs!!! Oh by the way Russ it's still winter and our bushes have no foliage on them a little FYI for ya!

You young lads are rank amateurs. You don't know how to "creatively" break equipment so it has to be replaced....? pppfffftttt. HINT: Remove an internal fuse "oh darn honey, the amp is broke..." Do I have to hold your hand?

No steve, the problem is they breed them a lot smarter now. You "old bucks" could get away with murder. We young'ns try anything crazy and they take 1/2 of everything.
