Following up last post, is it worth the upgrade? My current listening system.
Room: 12 x 13 - 8 ft. Ceiling
95% - 2 Channel music
Jazz, acoustic, folk, rock
Listening levels low-medium
Current System:
Polk Monitor 10-b (4 speaker setup)
Polk Monitor 7-b
HK 3770 (120 wpc)
Yamaha 600 cd
Upgrade would be:
Polk Sda 1-c
Cost $ 400
HK 3490 (120 wpc 8 ohm/150 wpc 4 ohm)
THOUGHTS?

I think the SDAs you're looking at are 1Bs not Csafterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Monitor 4,5,7,10 very good but they are just standard speakers. SDA speakers are in a entirely different league. $400 if they are in decent shape is a very good deal.POLK SDA 2.3 TLS BOUGHT NEW IN 1990, Gimpod/Sonic Caps/Mills RDO-198

Ive had/got multiple set ups & ive hem'd n haw'd about getting rid of the 1c's but every time i listen to them - that thought disappears quickly & i havent even done the xover upgrade yet..
-
If they are the 1c's that kind of music would sound very good on them & that price is fair also in decent condition w/cord..

I do not own SDAs, but from what I have read it is critically important to include the crossover cable to get the full differentiated effect from those speakers. True?HT1: Polk Monitor 7C's L/R, Polk CS400i center (bi-wire)

1Cs are one of the best SDA little brothers. I have set. With the proper gear behind them, you'll have many hours of great music.
Not slighting the monitor series. I have had several sets over the years. Would sell them and reget it later. So I would buy another pair because I missed them.
A very narrow apples and oranges comparison. I like both for their own unique qualities.
And yes @DozerCSX , the interconnect cable is crucial to the SDA sets to fully appreciate what they can do for your music. -
Love my 1c's, though 7b's are the ones that hooked me on Polk back in the way-back machine...
For your listening, and you seem to have the room, the SDA's should be the head and shoulders winners. Though SDA sound isn't for everyone... if it is for you, I have yet to find something else that can replace it.VA HT HK AVR20II, Sony S9000ES CD/DVD/SACD, Polk Audio RC80i / Polk Audio CSi3, 60" Panasonic Plasma, Nordost / Signal Cable A2 / Wireworld / Pangea / Magic Power
